So, I'm currently training for an Ashimmu.

Edit: Reconstructing the fitting, will repost when complete.

Thanks for your time,
Rain.

Prop mod? Solo PvP in a prop modless ship is a disaster waiting to happen. Gleam has horrible range and bad tracking. Use pulses. You have no heatsinks or tracking computers/enhancers so your damage sucks and your application is bad.

No offense but you are no where near ready to fly an Ashimmu. Please choose something that is cheaper until you learn basic fitting theory.

Mr. Loyd, you sure do enjoy my posts. In regards to your assessment of my "aptitude." I wish to challenge your misinformed statement.

1) I've never used lasers before. (Which is the reason I ask a question in the forums, possibly?) Losing the ships and learning the lessons myself are all well and good, but I'd prefer more experienced input so I don't make the same mistakes.

2) I haven't done solo PVP to any great degree, and I'm investing in learning it.

((Mr. Evingod, thank you for your input. I will adjust the fitting accordingly.))

Cheers,
Rain.

All I'm saying is you can learn the same aspects of the things you don't know about by using a ship that costs a tenth of the cost of an Ashimmu. Play as you like, it was simply a recommendation based on my opinion, I don't expect anyone to share it.

T2 fit a T1 frig, for example?

Or use a Cruor?

Any of those would be better even a T1 cruiser would be better. I always hesitate to make RL comparisons, but do you start by flying a F-35 or a Cessna?

go on the test sever and try out the ashimmu for your self

ask some random dude to help you test fits and see how it goes sure you cant use faction mods but it will help you get the basic feel for the ship, i've tried pulses btw I think beams may be better depending on how you fit.

Ashimmu is a very hard solo ship, you will die in a fire. If you want something similar and cheaper start with a Stabber they fly about the same and it will help you learn to dictate range, Stabber is a great ship.

Solo ships tend to want to be fast so they can split people.

Ashimmu sports a monstrous armor tank so is going to be a bad day out for you.

I second the stabber then later the stabber fleet.

A rail thorax can be fun too.

Hell, just about any T1 cruiser is a blast these days and can take out stuff without too much trouble if you have some practice behind you.

The Ashimmu can absolutely be a good 1V1 ship however the style and tactics with which you fly it are going to be a little different. The ships strengths are its heavy tank, its damage projection, and its long range webs, all packed into a still relatively fast and small package. Not to mention a ridiculous bonus to neuts.

My fit uses 3 Pulse Lasers, 2 Medium neuts, MWD, WEB, Point, Cap Booster, and 1600mm Buffer tank with 2 heatsinks. Instead of traditional kiting or brawling, what I do with it is more similar to scram range kiting. I close to nuet range, nuet the target out, and then pull range to about 20km.

Out at 20km on a webbed target, you will be out of harms way of most blasters, well into projectiles falloff, and out of range of high damage HAMS. From there you can apply your full DPS with scorch and drones, if a brawler manages to close range again, you nuet them out an repeat the process.

What's the DPS on that fit, Spugg? (Does it require Beams, or can Pulses be used?)

Made a Pulse Laser fit and a Beam laser fit and made them as cheap as possible.....

These fits are superb as they allow you to kite very easily however, if you do get scrammed and webbed you have a superb buffer tank, you're draining their cap and you have them double webbed too. This allows the Ashimu to kite or brawl in these fits. Although you aren't really using the Ashimu's main power which is super neuts. Using in in this way lets you work solo much more. As, when solo, you always want to be able to disengage easily. Which means range control.

Did you get them mixed up? I thought Beams were for range and Pulses were for brawling?

Am I missing something?

'Because of "Scorch[superscript]tm[/superscript]"'

You've stumbled onto the reason there are balance problems with medium sized energy turrets.
T2 Pulse lasers get to use Scorch ammo. This ammo more or less makes pulse lasers useful. Without it they're just meh. The main issue with scorch is that it kind of makes beam lasers irrelevant.

The reason beams might be preferred over pulse lasers in this fit is simply because of the long range double webs. This allows you to use the beams without having to worry about tracking issues at long range point range. The beams also do better DPS than pulse lasers loaded with scorch at this range and you can also push your DPS out much further than point range which is very useful for solo work. Pulse lasers are useless , even with scorch, beyond 28km.

Imagine you want to engage a small gang in your Ashimu. The gang consists of a frigate, a brawling cruiser and a kiting cruiser. With the Beam Laser fit you can land on the gang at 60km and instantly put 240dps on the frigate. Then you have taken out the fast tackle which is your major worry. You can now engage the cruisers. Which cruiser you engage first is situational. If the kiting cruiser is already on top of you and the brawler is still a long way off you can start hammering the kiter whilst keeping a close watch on the brawler. Once the brawler starts getting close to you put one of your webs on him if you haven't already killed the kiter and keep that bastard out of range of you. Kill the kiter and then concentrate on the brawler kiting him at approx 19km with super cool looking blue gamma beams if you don't need to drain his cap. If you need to put capacitor pressure on him then close to 16km and switch to boring multi freqs.

If all goes to ratshit, load Gleam and try to pull range.

Pulse lasers force you to start the engagement within 30km which can be dangerous in an Ashimu as they aren't particularly fast.
