next ship after tengu?

I currently have a tengu and a dominix, I realized I am tired of babysitting drones so planning on selling the dominix.

I was thinking a golem is the next logical step to be able to kill/salvage all in one ship seems great. I just don't know if it will make much difference moving to the golem in mission time or if it is actually what I should be looking to for my next ship.

Would you recommend getting a raven or a cnr in the meantime to get used to being slower, or stick with tengu while I grind up the funds for the golem?

I think I have given up on the idea of missioning just to buy Plex, it just turns the game into a job so looking for a fun new way to blow stuff up.

Typing on phone so apologize for whatever autocorrect did that I didn't notice.

If you don't mind shifting gears a bit, keep the Tengu and fit it for exploration. It may not be a perfect system but I'd definitely say it's more interesting than just missions.

If you want to keep doing missions? Just go straight to the Golem. Tengu will do well enough until then as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds like you could use a Rattlesnake. It will make use of your missle and drone skills. Carry a MTU and salvage drones, and you can all in one it.

I would if it weren't for sentries being stationary.... 50km to a gate and you are stationary at warp in until you pop everything so that you can pick up your drones.... Then you have to jump drive 2 times to try to get to gate, or slow boat it to the gate. My tengu clears a lot faster due to just orbiting the gate picking off targets.

I absolutely love the scorpion model for the ship but the sentries just kill the snake for me.

Now I am inexperienced so maybe there is another way... But the time between gates is so annoying with the Dominic, has to be similar with rattler.

(I have more drone skill points than missile skill points so would love drones to work and using rattler but have to find a way around the time between gates)

I own Rattlesnake and it is easy mode of running level 4 missions. I understand LMJD is a bit clumsy if you have to fly several dozen kilometers to the gates but in my view its total immunity to rats (Rattel with LMJD is untouchable like cov-ops with less than 2 seconds alignment time!) and huge raw long range damage are more important than this issue. Other than that you can try rail Vindicator - also great ship against Guristas: more than 1000 dps (excellent damage application - pure kinetic & thermal with no delays) at 60 km and almost 1000 dps armor tank are possible to achieve in Vindicator. Say, it's Kronos for guys with not enough skill points. Simply you cannot find better mission runners short of Marauders than pirate battleships:

- Nightmare against Sanshas & Blood Raiders
- Rattlesnake against Guristas
- Vindicator against Guristas & Serpentis
- Machariel against Angels with their crappy EWAR

Remaining pirate BS: Nestor, Bhaalgorn and Barghest are not good (dedicated) PvE platforms.

Launch a gecko and MWD to the gate. Or start shooting, MJD, wait out CD, scoop drones MJD to the gate, and be done with it. Although if it is the mission I'm thinking of, I use a CNR and fof missiles and go afk while it travels with an AB fit.

Missions are where you learn how to play and make some isk. Get a worm and head into the unknown!

Tengus does so well with survivability that I'd never want to do anything without it solo PVE wise. They are too fast to be a gank target if you travel fit it, it can squeeze through wormholes, rat in most anomalies, does impressive tanking in 0.0 complexes.

Then buy a pirate battleship and run incursions.

Generally if the gate is more than 30km away you either jump 100km up or down immediately, kill the enemy, and then jump back onto the gate once there are only a few NPC left or you jump past the gate. The gate is actually about 20 km wide so jumping past it reduces the distant travelled under AB/MWD significantly.

Note there is no rule with the rattlesnake that says you must always deploy drones, it does substantial DPS just from the launchers while still travelling.

Another workable alternative would be forget the MJD and fit the RS with RHML and geckos and make it a brawler.
