Sharing waypoints/routes via Drag&Drop to chat

Title says it all but let me explain the idea a bit further.

It would be amazing if we could share routes in the same way it is now possible to share overview settings. A Drag&Drop feature that would create a link in chat other players could simply click and import the route including avoided systems and additional waypoints as well as shortest/safest settings.

There are often scenarios where you want to avoid specific systems for a variety of reasons, for example avoiding systems known to be scouted by the enemy to perform an ambush. Currently one would have to tell the fleetmembers which specific systems have to be avoided to achieve this.

Then there is also the problem that multiple routes may lead to destination so if pilots have different settings (shortest/safest) this may lead to seemingly the same route (jumpwise) but at some point people would split up for a while until eventually joining the same route again.

The export/import feature for routes would solve these problemes but I understand there may be issues when people importing the route are in a different system than the creator.
A way to solve this could be to have the imported route automatically set the creators system at the moment of creating the export as the first waypoint for people importing it.

Alright thats about it for my part... discuss? Blink

Interesting, and a good way to set up a free burn where people actually use the same route, which is currently hard.

Talking more,

Flying crazier,

And drinking more

I like it if i can also save the routes in my notepad with the same drag-n-drop magic.

I make the same route daily and i have to make 60 clicks every time.

Because it's so hard to communicate with your fleet. Set the fleet MOTD to include what settings they should use for the route planner, including any known systems to avoid at the time.

Whether in squad command, wing command, or fleet command position, as the leader of the fleet, your job is to command. Give orders, and if someone doesn't follow orders and dies, that is not your fault.

Only because there is already a way to relay information doesn't mean it can't be improved.
The last couple of patches introduced lots of quality of life improvements and I think this feature would make another improvement.

Setting a motd and having people use certain settings may work for planned ops etc. but for example in small gang warfare you will run into situations where you have to quickly adjust and reliably relay the new route to your fleet. And I think that dragging the new route to fleetchat is much faster and less vulnerable to misunderstandings than posting/editing waypoints and settings in the motd.

This is the best reason for this to be put into the game how it affects pvp is none exsistant really since orders should be given properly and autopilot settings should really be set at the start of a roam if you're going to be using it for directions.
