I'm kind of meh about this teaser, there's very little in it to go with, and I'm not a fan of the recent (relatively speaking) trend of the meth-abuser's-shaky-cam-of-doom.

I found far more entertaining Mr. Harry S. Plinkett's take on this trailer. And as usual when it comes to Star Wars movies, his commentary is right on the spot.

In the Dark Horse's Clone war Comics there was a Jedi named Roblio Darté who wielded a similar weapon, his Light saber was known as Crossguard saber or forked Saber. So i assume that they took some inspiration from this design.

Tbh, regardless of the fact that the crossguard saber is just pointless (lets say it that way to keep it civil), more important would be the question why is the lightsaber "blade" so unstable.

and to point out yet another inconsistency ..the shot of the stormtroopers in that shuttle is all wrong ... why are all the "clones" of varying height ?

shurely a clone is exactly that ??? an identical match !!!

Nope, after the death of the Imperator and the end of the Empire, the Clone facilities on Kamino and some other Planets were lost, because those planets were now inside the New Republic borders.
Beginning with the Yuuzhan Vong War and the Imperial Remnant entering the war as an ally of the New Republic, Human and Non Human species from the Planets still under control of the Imperial remnant were eligible to enter the Stromtrooper corps.

By the time of the Second Imperial Civil War, well over a century since the fall of the original Empire, the vast majority of stormtroopers were composed primarily of enlisted soldiers, drawn from a recruiting pool of Humans and Non-Humans alike. No clones were known to have been in the Imperial service at that point.

Breakfast is the most important drink of the day.

well if that's the case then this is all stuff that should be explained in the film cos if not cinema goers are just gonna go meh pile of tripe ...your average cinema going public is going up to speed with the cartoon versions of starwars and its going to be very unfair to your average joe public to know this

so if its not explained then Disney needs a boot up the jacksey

Empire finally realized there was a cloning incident resulting in serious lack of eye to hand coordination and biomassed all the clones.
To make up for this it had to resort on good old standard recruitment. The "See the galaxy, meet interesting species, kill them all!"- sort of recruitment....

Seriously, this was such an underwhelming trailer. Nothing to get me interested in the story, and if I didn't know the other six films it would have had nothing to it at all.

No, no, no, it´s really an allegory for a certain real-life superpowers tendency to recruit expendable human material from the bottom of society to purportedly fight and die battling "Terrorism" and in the name of "Freedom" while in truth the soldiers are just instruments to secure resources for the upper class to line their pockets (check that zombie-movie Land of the Dead for a similar message).... our stormtrooper friend just realized he is really the 99%. Shocked

In all the fiction I've read in EU, I cannot remember anything showing the empire as White Supremecist. Specist, yes, Sexist, very yes (pretty much the only women to ever gain any kind of power in the Empire were Ysanne Isard, who was sleeping with the Emperor, and Admiral Daala, who was sleeping with Tarkin) but it always seemed that human, male were the only things they were interested in, not skin colour.

It looks pretty bad, but I like it. I can't see the user of that thing being able to do that overly choreographed dancing they called fighting in the prequels. It gives me hope, that the saber fights might look like the fighters are actually trying to harm their opponent instead of performing for the camera.

There is a (formerly) canon explanation for this, that the flowy swoopy moves were designed more for countering incoming blaster fire, from multiple angles, rather than attacking your opponent. That being said, this got my blood pumping! EpVII can't be anymore boring than EpI. Follow the (new) canon and be action-packed; that's the recipe for a good Star wars flick.

True, but I doubt throwing out the EU has suddenly made them make the Empire White Supremacists.

There is nearly 20 years between episode 3 and 4. Plenty of time for new clones, conscriptions, etc. In the original, the stromtroppers were of different heights and voices. 20 years is plenty of time for new clones, conscriptions, recruiting drives, etc.
