Some ideas I was thinking of to shake things up a bit with how things work and address some common complaints.

* Change it to small, medium and large plexes all with gates. Small fits frigate-size only. Medium fits cruiser and smaller. large fits battleship and smaller. Make it so only the top sized ship can capture the plex with rewards so only a cruiser could capture the plex, only a battleship could capture large. This could address the issues with farmers. Perhaps only allow the smaller ships in the plexes run down or run up timers but not get the capture.

* Cut all capture timers in half. But, add the second half as an additional timer so that after the capture, there is an opportunity for the other side to take it back. That way people roaming don't have to feel bored from having to wait around so long but there is still an opportunity to take a plex back. It can become a bit problematic for issuing loyalty point rewards for capture but I think the idea has merit.

* Make each plex worth more towards capturing a system. The .7 was always weird. Why not .5 for small, 1 for medium and 1.5 for large?
