Were in Space. Why doesn't it move?

Wouldn't it be Huge if we had everything moving? All at different Rates.

So POS'es follow there moons around. Station's move and are at different points around the year.

And Don't make them connected to our exact 12 month years. So one year that station in November it's 1 AU off the Star Gate but next year we would have to calculate it our selfs and plan invasions and war strategy biased on where things will be at that time of the year.

This would Really Change EVE for the Better.

You could tie in so many other things to the relationship of where they would be. The Players in EVE are Dynamic well make the Space we fly in just as dynamic. Could add Comets that when get close to the sun have less material and more when there further away.

This could add a whole new way to be part of the EvE universe.

What would moving planets add to the gameplay?
Given how fast we warp, and how slow planets move.

Yeah.
Going to have to mark that on the would-be-neat-but-not-practical-at-this-time list. Maybe in another 10 years or so. /shrug

Scanning down my POS every time I want to use doesn't sound like fun.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

doesnt really add anything but server load to the game

EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided"

It'll ruin bookmarks, especially pounces.

Please argue that bookmarks becoming outdated and incorrect will change Eve for the better.

Well, planets moving would't do much to mess with safes. They WOULD invalidate instas, and that would certainly force players to stay on their toes and only be able to keep instas of places they use all the time rather than having them for ever play they have ever visited.

Most of the rest of bookmark use tends to be transient, and would't be much affected.

Not really, at the speed planets and moons move, they would only really need to calculate that once every day of two, so it would lead to longer downtimes.

All that said, I am in the camp of neat but not needed. Unless you can convince me this would actually add something of value. Even immersionwise, I can't see it being THAT noticeable.

Bookmarks would only need to be adjusted to be aligned to a near by celestial and if it's absolute or rotational to it for instant undocks. So you make a bookmark 500km off the station exit rotational and in relation to the station.

While it would be lovely I can see no practical value in gameplay terms to adding extra work to the server hamsters already busy schedule.

Book marks would have to move with the space too, or they would be usles xd

kinda hard to do (i think)

This would not be conceptually difficult to implement. If you make all bookmarks relative to a celestial object, you're good to go.

We already anchor our POSs on moons, so a bookmark that's relative to that moon would get us to our POS (no scanning needed). For safe spots not near any celestial, just use the sun.

The technical side of things is where this could get tricky. Calculating the orbital dynamics of 67k planets across 8k solar systems (not to mention the moons and other orbital bodies) would put a not insignificant load on the servers. It is for this reason that I don't see this feature coming to eve any time soon, as much as I wish it would.

Im pretty sure our universe is liquid (almost jello/jelly).

planets and stars are suspended in the jello/jelly like fruit.

+1 if it could be done it would be a neat/frustrating feature

-1 because the servers already melt when too many people use them

How does the game know which celestial to be aligned to?

I have instas that are closer to other planets and moons than they are to the station I undock from.

If you can describe an algorithm that works then I'll be all for it. Otherwise it's more busiwork for players.

Planets, Moons, Asteroid belts, Would have Perma warp to that move with them. So nothing changes there.

and POS towers would need the same ability to perma have warp to that move with it one of the few things you can bookmark your self and it moves

All other bookmarks are just where ever you put them. Wouldn't you expect a bookmark to not be some permanent state. So you have to be actively changing them. It's not something you can come back to in 6 years.

Only the people active in systems would have proper bookmarks because they are updating them.

Would make new things like scouts having to go scout out a system making bookmarks cloaked before the main assault. And who knows what else. Theres a ton of space in each system we are not using and this would allow us to use it. Rather than just anoms randomly placed about.

And heck if the server lag is a issue then just update it daily at downtime. There done deal no Lag

And players should have to do more. Lazy people who want bookmarks forever.

So you want to, essentially, make most bookmarks worthless?

Oh hell yes. And each time I log in I can ask myself the question "where the hell is my POS? I am sure I left it here and my bookmark tells me I am right, but daaaammmn, so much open space, no moon, nothing?"

TL;DR: no
