- meta gaming (spying, intel, strategic...)
- w-space hunt preparations
- miner chats
- POS bashing congo lines?!?

Just wanted to point out that such fleet fights are rare for a lot of pilots.

I can't stop watching this trailer. I liked and shared EVE Online post in my Facebook wall and I have friends asking me about this game and they are saying how awesome is the trailer CoolBig smile

This has to be one of the best video games trailers ever.

Cinematic trailers often oversell the real game play experience, but this trailer is the real thing and shows Eve for what it can be.

As footnote, the BNI Brave Dojo is awash with new players wanting to explode gloriously.

I'm wondering is this video a product of the new philosophy CCP Seagull has been talking about in this presentation?

If so i have to tell you that it's working because i feel awesome.

Yeah agreed, the cinematic trailers recently released from CCP were ******* dire and not at all welcomed by the community who like real stuff to happen in real eve trailers like this most recently released one.

I think CCP are on to a winning formula here. I've watched it like 5 times already.

A recovering btter vet,  with a fresh toon and a determination to like everything that CCP does to Eve...

Don't take me too seriously though, I like to tease a bit on the forums, but that's only because I love you...

All +1 comments regarding this awesome trailer aside, you will find that EVE is "based on the Trailer" :

1- Nullsec warfare.
2- Low sec and WH PVP.
3- Mining.
4- Manufacturing.
5- Exploring.
6- Incursion.
7- PI.

The only 2 items weren't mentioned in the trailer are missioning and ganking... which make me chuckle. CCP forgot to mention them intentionally or unintentionally ? BlinkBlink

Is it fair to say that this trailer might have too much 'psssshhhh"?

Is that even possible?

Awesome trailer,

Showcases the very best EVE has to offer. Nicely glosses over the boring bits but what film/game trailer doesn't?

The raw happiness of the bomber FC near the end brought tear to my eye, almost.

That kind of elation is why I play EVE and I feel genuinely lucky to be able to fly in fleets like that with good FCs and competent fleet mates.

To all the guys in those videos and to all the guys I've flown with, I salute you. o7

Very clever of CCP to show how good their game can be when players make the content. hehehe

The trailer is great indeed. But the problem still will be that people starting EVE because of this trailer will leave disappointed when looking at windows and brackets all the time.

Why isn't CCP releasing a script based BATTLE RECORDER to use the engine for post-editing and post-rendering every fight from cinematic perspectives? Can some DEV answer this? This idea is now out for years and was even supported by the CSM.

The soundtrack is a nice adaption from MAN OF STEEL and works perfectly.

Just look at the numbers of new character creation, it has spiked by 3x after the trailer. It's the BRB5 effect in action...

I've shown the trailer to people who know I'm a EVE freak and they all are in awe about it. Fortunately, they also have me to tell them the chances they have to experience anything shown in the trailer... and a esitmate of how much time and money would cost them to get there. Twisted

So did you tell them the truth, which is "not much". EVE is so much more accessible now than with I started, the Attack Battlecruisers that died in the pipe bombing take days to train from scratch, the bombers in the beginning segement don't take much longer, nor does mineing take a load of time to train a starter character. Brave Newbie, EVE U, Goons and others prove that you can jump head 1st into the 'good stuff' very early on.

A guy my buddy intorduced to the game and that I helped out with the loan of my spare Maelstrom last year was flying a faction gun machariel within 2 months of paying his 1st subscription fee in Incursion fleets (he bought the mach with isk he earned using the Maelstrom).

Another new guy wanted in to the combat right away, so I introduced him to the EVE Radio and Sir Squebbles chat channels, he flew a tech1 frig with meta guns his 1st time out. He died alot before getting on his 1st kill mail. A year later that guy is in a famous merc alliance screwing with goons in npc null.

It simply takes a player who is either a self starter (rather than the gamer standard "show me how" mentality) who goes and makes friends OR someone introduced to the game by friends. In other words, it takes an EVE player rather than a themeparker who would be better served by a themepark/hand-holding game.

The only thing it needs is at the very end....

"Autopilot disabled, waypoint reached." Missing aura's voice it is somehow NOT totally perfect. :)

You don't even have to do that much, I know of a half dozen player made chanels where people can go and find activity originating in high sec (Sir Squeebles being the most well known of them of course, and I've mentioned EVe radio). Hell, it's takes nothing at all to get a couple friends together and go and do something.

The real truth is that most gamers (and surprisingly, many EVE players) just aren't the kinds of folks who benifit from an unstructured entertainment environment (ie FREEDOM lol). Almost every single night for 7 years I've struggled with what to do with myself (pve in high sec, or low, or null, take a day trip to a wormhole, hope for an in game event, join a kitchen sink roam ala Sir Squeebles or EVE radio, log in null toon for a CTA or null sec roam, etc etc) while listening to others tell me how 'boring' EVE can be lol.
