What Is That Timer Thingy Unwinding Around The Ship Control Panel?

I just noticed this: After landing in a new system, whilst still cloaked, there is a timer thingy unwinding around the ship control panel. I thought maybe it had something to do with cloak, but it doesn't seem connected. Once again it seems I'm missing something really simple. Any help would be appreciated.

need more spacifics.

if its around the capacitor thats the new compass, it shows your bm's, anoms. and signatures in that system.

if you jumped into a system while cloaked that would be your cloaking cool down timer. Besides that i do not know what you are referring to.

It's the system scanner. It circles around the capacitor and picks up all the anomalies and signatures and bookmarks you may have...

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

its the compas. it serves as compas and radar for signatures and bookmarks

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

FYI, the "ship control panel" is called the HUD (Heads-Up Display).

As others have pointed-out, the ring around the outside of capacitor display is the "compass" (sensor overlay), and it updates after entering a new system (the "unwinding" animation). Mouse-over the ring for the colour-coding legend.

What? The compass isn't covered in the tutorials. I don't think it is, anyway..

I'm not sure if you're being thick on purpose or just managed to do it accidentally.

Forgive my fellow forum guardians, they must not have read your post. You are referring to the session change timer.

The session change timer is in the upper left corner of the screen though.

My mistake, they seemed to be in sync when I looked at them the first few times, upon further review it looks like it is just the animation for when the scanner updates itself, which takes place upon a session change and periodically after that.

The least you could do is write a personal thank you to those that did help. Luckily it's December next month...
