Another big FAIL balance :(
People's unwillingness to use the many mechanics at their disposal is not a failure of balance.

Never said there were not any mechanics just that better ones are needed. The mechanics available at the moment are nowhere near enough strong enough to disuade people from suicide ganking. Big deal I now have a kill right on a character who is also -10 but the only ship he is trained to fly is a cruiser at best. Ok so I catch him in my battleship and pop him. Do they care? Of course not he has unlimited supply of ships from the main character who is funding him. Say I keep killing him on sight when he is -10 sec status, all that happens is he reappears in station (If I pod him). It also makes you a target if you randomly pop a -10 toon you just happen to come across. At the moment suicide ganking only has pros, the cons of it are that negligable they not worth considering.

Of course not. Why should they?

Of course. He now has to go through the bother of getting a new ship to a character that can't move around with the same freedom as everyone else; he must all of a sudden take into account that maybe there's someone out there that is actually making use of his free-for-all status; and above all, he just lost a kill…

None of those reasons you mentioned are of any note to a suicide ganker. Getting a new ship is exceptionally easy as the main character just drops of as many ships/fitting he requires. Losing a kill? I presume this means someone has killed him and not the other way around, if so its not even noticable losing a ship that is so easily replaced. If he cared about his killboard kill/death ratio he would not be a suicide ganker.

Why should the mechanics be strong enough to disuade suicide ganking you ask? Whats the point of them if they are not strong enough? At the moment when a suicide ganker evaluates his target and the consequences of his actions he quickly realises the consequences are so minimal that they are almost non existant.

Suicide gankers and there fans will argue till they are blue in the face that the penalties are fine as they are now simply becaus they dont want their easy ISK taken away or made harder to obtain and will try talk down any who argue otherwise. Myself, i believe suicide ganking should be viable but have some sort of meaningful punishment, something to make the ganker think twice and maybe then decide against it. There are some who just dont care and will gank whatever the punishment, nothing you can do about those players but many may think twice if the risk of suicide ganking was increased.

The current punishments are enough. This is evident by the simple fact that the chances of the average ship getting ganked in empire is incredibly remote

Since their whole purpose is to get a kill, denying them that is of some note…
Oh, and no matter how much you shrug off the added logistics needed to keep the -10 provided with stuff, it is none the less additional logistics that is required; it's more work that makes the life of that character more difficult.
Quote:

…but being a suicide ganker, he cares about his kill number. You just robbed him of the one thing he actually cares about. That's as hash a punishment as it will ever get. If you choose not to give him the hardest kick in the balls imaginable, then guess who's to blame that he's not being punished enough… a hint: it's not the fault of the mechanics.
Quote:

But the thing is, they are strong enough dissuade most from ganks — otherwise, you wouldn't be able to undock. They shouldn't be strong enough to just dissuade ganking, full stop, because suicide ganking is legitimate game play and serves a couple of very important purposes.
Quote:
At the moment when a suicide ganker evaluates his target and the consequences of his actions he quickly realises the consequences are so minimal that they are
…on average, far higher than he'd like, so he doesn't gank. As proof of this, see… well… all of highsec and the rather astonishing lack of ganks we see even given the minute constraints on them.

…which it has, if people just bothered to actually mete it out. They don't, so they have forfeited their right to complain about how that punishment is too lax — it's lax because they choose to make it lax. That is a people problem, not a game mechanics problem.

Dear OP,

maybe you're not aware of the fact that you're playing EvE online,
where EvE could easily stand for Everybody vs. Everybody.

Unlike WoW or all the other so called MMORPGs (pah!) out there,
this game really has a universe filled with lives that make the game.

You are a victim by your own choice. The loss of your ship,
it's only to blame on yourself. EvE makes it easily possible to
watch out for ones self.

If you don't want to die ...
... then move into a system with lesser traffic.
... then pay attention to your surroundings and warp out if suspicious activity occurs.
... learn how to tank your ship properly.
... then stop playing a game that's encouraging people to fight and kill each other.

If you want a change, try and support suggestions about Bounty Hunting
or any other profession that would level the easiness of ganking a ship like yours.

Either that .. or GTFO !

If CCP wants to add targets to the game for small gang PVP, making Null Sec profitable to mine in (real mining) would be a great way to do it.

I agree, I'd love to be able to kill miners in null but until that happy day it's ganking highsec miners all day every day

i will still gank highsec miners once that happens of course just less often
