now that this is kind of obsolete, since the design lab can handle its job as well, I was thinking what to do with the structure.

It should be turned to a Sisters of EVE or The Sanctuary Design Lab in essence making it into a improved version of the basic Design lab, like the hyasyoda is an improved version of the Research lab.
