AFAIK you will still lose SP from a T3 (cruiser) loss

Correct, skill loss for T3s is still in effect :)

But what happens in the event of a normal pod death now? Infinite free clones? One clone grade that we always have to pay for? Automatic deductions from our wallet? What happens?

is this going to be removed with the T3 rebalance?

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

I'm not sure I'm afraid, but i don't think theres any plans for this. Clone skill loss was removed because it provided no choice, either update your clone or forget. This is not the case with T3s

Skill loss for T3 is not a choice provided. Either you lose a skill or you lose a skill. So why keep it? T3 are powerful, but they are not cheap, so there is balance in nature.

The choice is to not fly the strategic cruiser in the first place. Doing so will allow you to completely avoid skill loss on ship explosion.

The T3 SP loss should be kept in effect, although these ships may be a bit pricey, but they can honestly do any combat orientated site or PvP role quite decently. Very few ships can solo 10/10 DEDs or higher class WH sites and since T3s can do this, i beleive the risk v reward is in balance.

Every pirate frigate is better than T1 so why not give it skill loss too...
For me skill loss for flying particular ships s not a good idea. Now you have skill loss, and now you dont have, It is clearly a design decision for flying too OP ships. How much they have to nerf them to remove skill loss? Who knows... Roll

Presently T3s are overpowered compared to their price. Either they need to cost more, or they need to be nerfed, or there has to be come other cost associated with flying them, such as SP loss.

Pirate frigs are not overpriced compared to their price.

Edit: Thinking a bit more about this: if the SP loss was removed, the demand for T3s would increase, driving up their price. So maybe it is a superfluous mechanic.
