Tell us your good news in this thread. Here's mine.

When I first created Rem, I had just had my heart broken by a woman I loved more dearly than life itself. Long story short, EVE shone a light on my life where there was no other. A little over two years later, I've patched my life back together a lot, and finally summoned the courage to meet someone new without fear that I might just be using her as a crutch.

So a few months ago, I met a girl, her name's Montana. She works at my local grocery store and is almost always on the checkout during the quiet hours, hours that I coincidentally chose to get my groceries because no line (**** lines). Anyway, at first it was just business. But every time I went through her checkout, she'd smile, she'd talk, we'd talk.... one day we clicked, and eventually I noticed that she was attracted to me, and I her. When I first noticed though, I was still undergoing cancer treatment. I wasn't quite in the clear yet, and I wasn't about to make myself a burden on someone.

But when I was in the clear, it still took me a while to summon the courage necessary to ask if she wanted to hang out some time. Eventually our conversations at the checkouts evolved to stories about our day so far, and we started to get to know each other by virtue of that. A few weeks ago, she got transferred to the deli, and suddenly, I found myself buying more bacon than I needed just for the sake of being able to spend time with her.

Eventually, after buying another half kilo of shortcut, I was approaching the registers and something inside me made me stop. I felt ashamed, I felt like I needed to kick myself. I told myself to turn around, and ask her if she wanted to hang out sometime, in those exact words. It was a simple question with little to no suggestion of an agenda. It could only go one of two ways. Like a typical EVE pilot, I prepared myself for shiploss as I undocked and flew into the unknown, and I asked her...

And she said, "maybe". With a smile. Which matters, a lot, because it's not a no, then she gave me her number, which turned out not to be fake. Then we had our first date, then our second, then our third.... and things have just gone from there. It almost seems fluid, the way we click, how equally dorky and nerdy we are, and just how much it turns out we have in common.

My good news is that my life is working out for the better, when months ago, I had no hope. What's yours?

I don't have any, but just wanted to pop in and say that your anecdote is a perfect example of the 'you can meet someone anywhere' thing. People don't believe it, but it happens.

Remiel, I'm happy things are working out for you.

I have not passed out from a heat syncope for a while now. I'm getting more confident being out on my own with physical exertion.

My coworkers got me a tiny cake with my favorite kind of topping yesterday. Up until that point I was convinced they absolutely hated my guts. A couple of them even confessed that they did, but that they changed their mind over the last week and a half. I needed some alone time in front of the restroom mirror to process that afterwards.

I woke up this morning in a nice, soft bed. There's always a roof over my head, and my feline "familiar" Mr Nixon is always right at my side. Had a nice dinner, going grocery shopping tomorrow, which I love. Coming up with the list is like severe mental masturbation for me. Ive been on the REALLY down side of life in my time, and tbh it's the littlest things that I now cherish the most.

I haven't smoked a cigarette in 6 months. This time I think it'll stick, I had tried quitting three or four times before, but never lasted more than two weeks.

I've also made huge strides in relearning my mother tongue (serbian) since I moved to Serbia last year. Getting to know one's extended family again is also really cool, especially since we hadn't seen each other since I was around 13.

Not much else otherwise, for now this is cool. Excellent news by the way Remiel, I don't know you, but it's good to hear when someone beats cancer. Hope things keep going well with this cool lady of yours.

Ralph, when are the twins going to start internet spaceships PirateP?

Grrr.

For some reason, I can't help but imagine them choosing to repair your target instead of you after you refused them candy or something, and dad Ralph yelling "YOU ARE SO GROUNDED" at the screen with maniacal vengeance giggles coming from the twins.

Grrr.

For the record, I once flew under an 8-year old FC who was incredibly competent, and I'd fly under him again any time he asked me to.

In less than I month I'm getting my master's degree in social work. I'm going to work with veterans for a couple of years until I can get my independent clinical license, then I'll probably join the Army (again) as an officer so I can work with Soldiers while they're still in rather than waiting for all that crap to pile up until they get out. Weird getting my independent license and then joining the Army, I know, but it's a cost I'm willing to pay if I can help people before it's too late.

I expected to be wandering the wasteland in a muscle car killing people for gasoline by now.

Apparently I was wrong.

Nothing bad to report in at least 2 decades now.
