so humans have achieved another milestone in science and space exploration.

after 20 years of preparation and 10 years of spaceflight, they landed a probe on a tiny comet with near to zero gravity.

..and feminists one and only problem is what shirt scientist wears....

What if they already have, but we're just too stupid to notice? Shocked

OOPE must not be posted in very often considering how many threads that belong there end up here.

But, while I'm here, I agree that jumping all over someone for a T-shirt is ludicrous.

For the record I like the shirt.

We have chemical engineers at my job who wear all manners of things that are probably inappropriate. Nobody who might care actually sees them because these guys are in and around equipment all day. Now, what if a woman joined their team and was exposed to these things daily? I think it depends on the woman, and the woman I know from the legal department who works with them doesn't find it to be an issue of sexism. But I have to wonder. What if another woman got uncomfortable? Would she have a legitimate gripe? Might this hypothetical complainer blow things out of proportion?

One dude, dude. Just one. If there were others, then you certainly do have a different way of thinking than a rational human being might if you're suggesting that such a population sample is representative of the entire population.

I don't really care much for feminism. Up until I was 15, I didn't even know discrimination was a thing. When I first heard about it, I was appalled.

But as long as the girls I know are still talking about Brad Pitt like he's a sex toy, I'll be damned if someone wearing a shirt with some cartoon women on it is something worth 'criminalising' a person with a mind that's contributed to the scientific and academic community more than ten times that of his accusers.

yeah this part's a bit awkward. i can imagine that if this is true, he wore the shirt to please his wife, which is sweet. we can acknowledge a person's intention is different to the message sent. it's not about labelling the man or diminishing the achievement of the day. this is something that some people refuse to understand

It was a birthday present made for him by a female friend apparently, not his wife.

However what happened was he did a downright lovely thing by choosing to wear a present someone made for him when appearing on TV. He then got harassed and bullied for it (you really think he broke down during the apology because he suddenly realised the shirt made him Literally Worse Than Hitler?).

There would've been a justification if the shirt had actually been offensive of course, but it wasn't. Images of women are not offensive in and of themselves, and I didn't see any of the women on said shirt getting raped or 'making a sammich'.

And yes, this belongs in offtopic because Matt Taylor's space isn't a liquid and he doesn't have an "orbit at x" button.

there's one part where a guy comes up to the girl and says hello. when she doesn't respond he says something like 'bye, have a good day'. i remember thinking Well Okay Nothing Wrong With That Then, but he then started following her around which is Not Okay

the video's come under criticism from a racial perspective - the makers edited out footage of white people who were also making inappropriate comments. according to them, the people making those comments were poorly heard by the mic or were off-camera. they've acknowledged the poor racial message this sends if i remember right

Society today tends to be very appearance-oriented when making judgement calls.
If you want something you will try to look your best ain't it? A job interview, or a date - you dress to impress. This is becoming true for both men and women. try to get a managerial job wearing a tee and slashed jeans - best of luck!
And women abuse it (shocking I know). Because we can, and because we know men like it.
Then saying that a man is sexist by wearing that shirt is nothing less than hypocritical. Especially on that day.
As a woman I think the so called feminists of today should really get their heads out of their asses and of the Victorian world they still think they live in.

Today at work I'm wearing a T2: Judgement Day shirt with Arnold on it - do I offend any men? Don't think so.
Worst case scenario they'd rather check the boobs then what's on the shirt.
If I want to make things worse I'll go "commando" and then I'm pretty sure all the sexist, sociological and philosophical implications of me wearing a shirt with a buffed up man on it would vanish.

This may come as a shocker for some but generally women with sense in them really don't care if you wear something with naked cartoon ladies on you ( unless meeting the mother or some stuff like that :P ), some even like it. It's all about taste and as we know "de gustibus non est disputandum".

didn't read further than the title huh

that ~mind of such high value~ recognised and apologised for his mistake. since his opinion is so much more worthy than ours i think we should follow his example don't you

has brad pitt complained about his popular perception. i don't know the man

This is a sensitive topic and I feel this to be an inappropriate venue for such a discussion. And I don't just mean GD, I mean anywhere on CCP's forums.

I'm also deeply suspicious of anyone using the defense "I'm a woman so you can't accuse me of being a misogynist ***wipe" on completely anonymous forums.

Also also, if a woman gave him that shirt, that woman is just as guilty for her poor decision as the man is for his decision to wear it.

i have no idea what the guy is thinking and neither do you, the shirt was inappopriate in the context it was worn, and this topic doesn't belong anywhere
