Hello spacefriends!

What do u guys think about the new static overview? I like it very much, all the changing
numbers in the old one made my head explode. Honestly who cares about
velocity, distance and all that crap.

For one it has made me appreciate the movement of multi-coloured squares in space, and I must say it is a much more HI-OCTANE and overall more dynamic experience than simply looking at the static overview.

An example: combined with the tactical overlay, if the red square enters the dense white sphere, I know that when I hit F4, my scrambler will activate (meta scram range is a bit over 9000 meters on overheat); if I'd go by the numbers only, the red square would be too far to even lock.

Reading visual queues like this has been proven 42% more effective for developing and maintaining healthy cognitive activity than evaluating numbers in a plain chart. Thus, I for one like the beneficial effect of the Carbon UI project on enhancing our perception and situational awareness skills.

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

I always assumed this was a feature that was working as intended. It's so much more interactive to guess distances based on your relative position to the enemy and objects in space. For speed, I'd just count the seconds between myself and the enemy ship after passing a static object and calculate the distance vs time to travel.

At least we have new old engine trails to guess wildly at a figure...

An especially nice touch is how the overview will keep ships that have left the field on it and then fail to add new ones to make sure that we're not using it for anything silly like battlefield intel. We're probably just supposed to spam the d-scan constantly during combat to know who is there and how far away they are and fly that way, it's probably easier on the server than keeping the overview updated.

This is brilliant.
After I started the tread I discovered another possibility to improve the current system even more. Just turn off
your display and pretend to do the right things.Idea

You are getting closer.

The correct way to play EVE, is posting on the forums about how you used to play EVE.
