CCP - Could you please, PLEASE fix the issue where the overview stops updating?

The symptom I've noticed most frequently is a data row on the overview getting stuck and never being removed.

This is from memory, but when traveling long distances, occasionally a ship will get stuck on overview and never disappear, even after multiple jumps the ship will continue to appear on the overview until I use a different tab to refresh it.

I have seen this while traveling probably a couple dozen times, and yes, once after crucible's release.

I have also seen the issue of certain overview rows ceasing to update in large fleet fights. The entire row stops updating properly iirc - range, velocity, even flashy-redbox aggression got stuck and continued to display after the fight. I recall asking the (friendly logi) pilot to kindly stop aggressing me after the fight and he had no idea what I was talking about and wasn't even targeting anyone and had no drones out. I changed overview tabs and it cleared up.

This last example had happened months ago, but I recall those details pretty clearly.

Having the same issues aswell, cant say anthing additionaly to what already been said, but its definetly there for a while (like pre incarna i think)

From what I've seen there are a few different problems with the overview.

First: This one is old but sometimes ships that are warping off or docking are still on the overview but "greyed out", clicking the tab will generally remove them. Related is when I warp from a gate with other ships on it those ships will stay on the overview when I warp off with huge distance values. This bug has come in different flavours over some time and I've seen some patch notes that were supposed to fix this but it's still present even if not so much of a problem nowdays.

Second: The big one and most recent. The overview isn't refreshing and if it do the values are not reliable, may also be related to some d-sync issues. On one occasion our gang jump into a hostile gang, we burn away towards the sun out towards 50-60k and then all of a sudden everyone realize that the overview doesn't work properly, clicking on the tab may refresh it but I can't tell if it's reliable. But I can tell that it affected most of our gang so it's not something that affects most people on grid.

I too have faced the same problems mentioned by many here, especially the ewar not showing on u (guy has u scrammed) or showing late

I have the same problem and create a petition on this case;


The distances on overview are not being updates; during warp, during engagements under sub-light speed. It sometime recovers after dock and undock but create same problem after first gate. If you minimize and maximize the overview or switch to another overview tab, distances updated with that moments snap shot but stays frozen further more.

Its is extremely annoying and preventing you to play by removing one of the most important piece of flight information. This issue needs to be urgently addressed .

Updates cause server load and are being optimised away. Your combat timers don't update either anymore, until you mouse hover over them. Twice.

Think of it this way, every cpu they take off you, they can give to a hisec incursion runner.
And now you feel better already. See. Everybody wins.

The F12 bug reporting feature is live on TQ it auto builds a log reportShocked as well as allows you to take picures. only problem is it freezes the client for like 30 seconds something that is bad for those that are in a active fight.

Just adding my support to fixing this issue - I'll file a detailed bug report sometime but also frequently certain targest on the overview will fail to update, or they won't even appear when they're warping in. Ships showing at 30k on the overview when they're at 10k, for example. Tabbing always fixes the issue but you often don't notice until it's too late.

I've had this before, its as if the overview freeze state randomly sticks after you've been ctrl-locking targets for a while. Once you've noticed however, you can fix the overview by rolling the overview up and down again by double clicking its title bar.

Well, nothing about this in the patch notes for tomorrow. Hopefully there will be a hotfix soon, though, since this is pretty game-breaking.

The fix, which I mentioned earlier, is now on Singularity. Feel free to test it out! We are hoping, that this fixes the case, where the whole overview stops updating (mostly the distance and velocity values).

It seems like there is a different (older) bug for single overview-items not being updated. I don't think that this one is fixed and we still need more information about it.

Very cool, thanks. I'll keep my eyes open for the various other permutations of this bug in the future.

This thing has been happening for a very very very long time... simply clicking on the overview tab fixes it, many of us just "dealt" with it, assuming CCP actually played their own game to realize even these small bugs that happen randomly, and eventually fix it

It's basicly impossibly to reproduce because it happens to randomly, but the chance of it happening is higher when 2 fleets clash into eachother at the same time in my experience, either my one jumping into the other, or warping into them :) the more people on both sides, the more likely someone will get the problem

SOME of these bugs have been happening for a very very very long time. And yes, we could live with them because they were infrequent, minor, and we could work around them. But now there are newer bugs that are much worse.

For example, one of the new bugs does NOT get fixed by clicking on the overview tab. All resetting the tab does is give you a more updated overview that is still frozen.

Also, anecdotally, the number of incidents has skyrocketed recently. I experience these bugs at least once per gaming session now, and hear others complain about them about as often.

Finally, the triggers for these bugs seem to be getting less complicated. It's now very common to get overview bugs during tiny skirmishes, or even in empty systems.

I've been having a similar bug where the actual brackets on ships were not updated, I had ships red boxing me from 400km on grid in a wormhole system that more than halves locking range....

This used to happen all the time on my slowest computer. I assumed it was simply a graphical glitch and didn't use that computer for anything important. Now since Incarna it appears on a much faster computer. Ghost ships will stay on the overview after warping off and new ships landing would not show up on the overview at all.

You have to force the overview to manually update by clicking on the tab, then reordering the overview.

You have introduced so many new bugs into the patch, how do you expect to ever catch up? Cargohold not updating properly, pos's shooting blues, dogs and cats living together!

I demand a sacrifice to the pillsbury doughboy.....

On a Serious note though, WTF? If CCP can't fix the current bugs without adding a whole new set of fresh ones, is there really any point in these daily "Patches"? Roll

bug is still there....during a fight a cane was 15km of my ship and suddenly 90km also same fight, overview showed no ewar active but wasnt able to warp...just before i died overview upadted and showed pointed by 5 people \o/ FIX IT NOW! THX....
