I've come to an interesting point while analyzing CCP Seagull's speech in Vegas.

CODE may very well be CCP's High Sec Militia.

Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Thank you for reading,

Not sure how a group of -10 criminal suicide gankers could be described as a "High Sec Militia."

Seems legit. CODE. is an upstanding organization that clearly cares about the health of high-sec space.

CCP has no sense of humour.

Please elaborate, how did you come to such a conclusion?

I meant it as more of a joke than anything, but since the feedback has been very positive, I will do my best to answer your question(s).

CCP insists that Eve is a game made for players in a player driven world. Everything is engineered to focus around player interaction and what ensues.

There are no rules in place to limit CODE's activities, nor do I likely see them being implemented in the future. Yet the jump capabilities of nearly every ship type have been nerfed with the Phoebe release.

There are an exceptional amount of individuals who complain about being ganked by CODE while CODE sits back, sips their Lipton Tea and sorts through cry-mails at their leisure. CCP does not condone CODE's actions, nor do they promote them. They maintain an air of ambiguity regarding this issue.

I composed this because I'm neutral on this issue. The pendulum swings both ways. Both parties are at fault in the result of a High Security Space "Gank."

Hopefully this sheds some light on your answer, Mr. Loyd.

Mr. Belvar, I completely agree. "Militia" was used in an improper context. I would say that CODE could be considered an "Unchecked Anarchy."

When people say "content", they actually always never not mean "conflict".

If you remember that, EVE will make a lot more sense to you I promise.

I realize that, I just wanted to know if you actually had anything to say besides the same old rhetoric, thank you for your reply.

The two points you bring up are unrelated. You did not convey how the part about jump drives relates to CODE. and their "High Sec Militia" status so I will not address that.

There are plenty of rules in place to limit CODE's activities, they have simply chosen to understand them and minimize the limitations. From my observations they are actually quite inefficient at this minimization but their numbers more than make up for that. So if CODE is guilty of anything it is having too many friends in a multi-player game.

Rain Amekage wrote:

You seem to be eluding that their ganking is excessive based on the amount of complaining you hear. The simple fact that CODE uses tears as their propaganda (read:"marketing engine") is the only reason you have this perception. The isk comes from the stories, the stories are created from the isk. It's the perfect model for the social experience that is EVE. As long as they play within the rules "an exceptional amount of complaining" is not a sufficient reason to take action. The fact of the matter is no one besides CCP knows what excessive ganking is, so the fact that more people are talking about it has no bearing on what is actually excessive.

Now see the former comment does not coincide with latter comment. So I hope you'll understand if I am skeptical about the latter.

If I'm an arms dealer selling to both sides of the conflict would it be wise to choose a side?

CODE would be going too far if they started ganking rookie systems. As far as I'm aware, they don't. So stop complaining.

It's pretty funny that you talk them up as if they were invincible. In reality, anyone can sit outside Boundless Creation in Hek, or any other place, and just Blap their puny Destroyers with insta-locking Tech III's.
It's really not that hard. Anyone with negative 10 security status can be shot anywhere without penalty.

Suicide ganking is allowed under the rules. This has been stated time and time again. There is absolutely no ambiguity whatsoever on the matter.

I just learned that CCP uses CODE to create everything we know as EVE Online.

I don't particularly applaud CODE, but along with similar groups they are necessary to the game. They provide a level of tension to hisec without which things would be even more dull and stagnation would occur. IMO a game shouldn't be so stupidly easy that you can "win" by just absently playing.
