It isn't something that would be found in an autopsy. And the secular answer, as I assume that is all that you care for, would be that it is determined by how one conducts themselves in their lives, how one attains fulfillment, higher purpose, inner peace. Andesh, as it is called in Matari.

Asceticism is a greater path to spiritual fulfillment than the hedonistic lifestyle lead by most capsuleers. Most capsuleers, in fact, by virtue of having all those things you listed, all those worldly mortal pleasures, are more mortal than any baseliner.

The hedonist claims their nirvana is in the act of sex and their spiral of decadence. As my experience with sexuality is limited, and not of particular interest to me, who am I to argue?

You say I am spiritually bankrupt because I would put entire populations to fire, or demand tribute and worship. You say that the path of charity and the life of a hermit is virtuous. I have no doubt your total conviction in this belief, and who am I to argue?

Capsuleers have no predators in the natural cycle. Capsuleers are not bound by time, death, resources, numbers, or any variables that mortals are imprisoned by. We are only bound by each other.

God is in technology, and technology flows through my veins. A God stirs inside me and animates my bones. Who are you to argue?

I choose to suborn myself to an idea, to something greater than a baseliner, greater than a single world, greater than a single capsuleer.

In the name of that idea, I do all that Mizhara reminds us that we can do, and more. In the service of that idea I spend all the resources that Jvpiter mentions, and more. Who is more powerful, me or the idea?

That which makes a human superhuman is not their power, it is how far they are willing to go to transcend the limits of the human. If you are simply a human, with all the human frailties, appetites and fears turned up to eleven, how impressive are you, really?

On the contrary, this obsession with measuring your own power is petty, needless, and self-absorbed. It is only when capsuleers get over themselves that they can begin to make authentic contributions to what they are loyal to.

What you do with your immortal time is your business. If you want to argue parliamentary measures and voting circuits and pension rights for the infirm or the injured, feel free to do so. Don't expect me to take any interest in your rather pedantic and supremely boring hobby.

You want to live like you walk on two legs with a fist-sized brain inside your skull, like the unevolved and near-apelike throngs crowding our planets, do feel free to do so. It is in your power to choose even so banal an existence.

My eyes are wide open, and my ascent is tied to the stars. You may join me at any time. When your vision is clear of the clouds of petty mortal affairs, the beauty of existence alone can bring tears of joy.

Whom or what we are will be determined by the beholders of our deeds and the inheritors of our legacies.

To assume otherwise is ultimately fallacious.

How does someone inherit anything from someone who lives forever?

Are you no more than the sum of your assets? How sad.

Our legacies are more than isk and objects. They reside in our contributions to the wider community.

Pieter,

I don't happen to be the one in a fancy tailored coat. Was it a nice purchase? Did you admire yourself before the mirror? Most certainly you did.

I am as interested in assets as I would be in the mortals I so deride, which is not at all. What I'm interested in is being my own judge, to be judged only by peers who are stuck in the same cage of immortality that I am. You can call this a community, if you'd like, but we are hardly co-residents in an impoverished complex who bake each other cookies and pass the sugar. Our community is passionate and violent, the lengths and breadths of which exceed The State from which I originated, or any others like it.

The so-called others who may feel the impact of my actions? How much time do you spend on the impact you have to the bacteria residing on your jacket?

Call me Joe.

Wow Mister Anslo! How do you manage to maintain your journalistic integrity and still recruit potential journalists from the street? You just give out jobs like they are going out of style!

You must be a really good boss!
