So I'm relatively new to EVE.

Been playing for about 3-4 weeks now.

Built up a good enough amount of ISK to buy a jump clone so I could PVP all weekend.

So Saturday, I teamed up with a fellow noob and we roamed low-sec.

1. We got killed 2v1 (we were the 2) by some guy. He felt so bad for our suckiness that he let us loot our own wrecks.
2. Then we killed some NPC pirates, but our cargo couldn't hold all the loot. So we trucked the loot back-and-forth until...
3. Fourth time we showed up, some other guy was looting our stuff. He promptly blew both of us up.
4. I then got blown up by a guy in a daredevil (i think that's the name?)
5. Lastly, I learned how to use the d-scan. Found a guy mining and killed him. First GLORIOUS PVP kill. Got his strip miner I

Couple of questions:

1. Is it wise to mine in low-sec? If not, where should you be mining?
2. Is low-sec where most of this action is? Or would I find more in null-sec?
3. Any other recommendations for a noob PVPer wanting to get better?

Thanks

Daredevil is indeed a type of ship. It is a very powerful combat frigate, especially in the hands of an experienced player.

Low-sec and null-sec do not feature much protection against being attacked in an asteroid belt. That means it is much riskier to mine there. However, with proper precautions, it is possible to mine (mostly) safely in either of those places. Some null-sec might actually end up being safer, since it's less accessible to hostiles, and miners there usually have access to intel from a friendly null-sec alliance about threats in the area.

There's all sorts of action in all sorts of space. High sec features "organized" PvP groups (like Red vs Blue), duels, knife-fights on stations during wars, and suicide ganking of people who carry too much valuable stuff. Lowsec has more freeform PvP and "piracy", plus factional warfare in which you can participate in a "proxy war" for one of the four main factions. Null-sec ranges from small groups of people living in areas of null-sec owned by NPCs, to large alliances duking it out for sovereignty over the rest of null-sec. There is also wormhole space, which acts like nullsec minus the "local" chat channel and without any stations or sovereignty. There are small player groups vie for control of space there.

Look for a PvP corp/alliance who label themselves as "newbie-friendly" or similar. That means that they accept relatively new players (though the definition of "newbie" varies), and are cool with teaching you how stuff works as you contribute to the fullest of your ability. Another alternative is to look for player-run "university" or other educational groups, which are dedicated specifically to teaching people.

Good luck!

Try lots of different ships and fits. Buffer tank, Active tank, short range brawling, laong range kiting, EWAR, drones, Etc.

And ask lots of questions. If you don't get how someone did something to you, ask them. Granted youre likely to not get a helpful response, but some people are very helpful and glad to splurge their knowledge.

PVP experience is mostly gained through trial and error. So as many trials as possible is your best bet.

One day YOU will be the guy killing 2 dudes.

See? You're already on the right track!

Not really. Actually, forget mining altogether. Join Faction Warfare, make lots more ISK while you pew!

Definitely yes, if you're a new player that wants to take PVP matters in your own hands. Nullsec is best for experienced FCs leading swarms of noobs, or for small groups of experienced players. Lowsec is free-for-all.

Prepare to die a lot. Join a PVP corp, if only for all the advice your corpmates can give you (even if you enjoy roaming alone). Study, read anything you can get your google on. This is an awesome place to start.

Low-sec pew best pew. Go mess with the FW people or join in FW yourself, best place to find quick, low-cost fights.

As a fellow new PvPer, lowsec is awesome.

Grats on your first kill! May there be many more.
