Hi all,

I have been away for about 18 months or so, I don't have copious amounts of time yet; so I have decided to run some level 4's to get my head baclk in the game for a few months.

I used to run level 4's in a NH or a Tengu, this doesn't seem practical now due to some changes(some say it never was anyway). I kinda like the idea of a Golem but I have a fair bit of training before I get there; I was wondering what would be better to fly in before I am trained fully for the Golem, NH, Tengu or would there be something more appropriate with my Skill Set.

thx for all your help.

tengu is fairly practical it just isn't optimal. Also I kinda don't like it because it encourages some lazy piloting tactics. The Heavy missile version is barely a step above mindless f1 spamming, and the Ham version is well, a teeny bit better as you have to move around to targets, but not by much.

with your skillset I'd probably train for t2 light drones, caldari BS 4, and Cruise missiles 4 and then fly around in a raven to get adjusted. A navy raven is a bit better, but costs more, so if you don't mind risking it while learning. By the time you can get in the golem you should be used to BS useage.

Try a Rapid Heavy Missile (You can use t2 ones within a day) Raven/RNI, while you're training up cruises. Then switch to those.

Very nice skillset, very focused.

Maybe a bit too focused though. You could run a 900 dps HAM Tengu without any trouble looking at your skills. OTOH any T1 BS with the focused skills would get 1000 - 1100 dps, e.g. T2 Sentry Domi / Typhoon.

Maybe use your exploration skills? Though you would need to bear in mind that T3 are locked out of DED 3/10 and 4/10 due to lazy farmers. But HACs and Command Ships are still allowed afaik.

A domi is a decent suggestion, I didn't mention it based on drone skills and the intended path of a golem. with some improvement in drone skills and faction sentry drones it could be fairly quick to get into one though. .

I've done Level 4 missions in my tanked and rigged "Battle Procurer" with max drone skills for grins. Been through every one with no problems. It does take time though.

All the previous posters are on the money. I took the path from Drake (Nighthawk) to Raven to Raven Navy Issue, and am now contemplating moving into the Rattlesnake. My RNI tops out at about 1000DPS with Fury cruise missiles, so I could probably switch to torpedoes. On the other hand I am a lazy joker and the idea of MJD to 100km and sniping everything with 750+ DPS from drones backed up by 700-odd DPS from cruise missiles is very attractive.

Of course there is also the option of entirely re skilling into projectile weapons and flying a Machariel. More than half of my mission completion time is travel, so reducing time spent in warp is just as effective as increasing DPS when it comes to ISK/hr.

I have torpedoes 5 and while it was nice using several years ago with loads of range, I would not suggest to invest in torpedoes unless you fly Golem. Instead, I would invest in gunnery / Machariel skills. So you will be able to run lvl4 nearly fast as any marauder and you will get the option to switch to incursions / pvp.
