Hey everyone,

I was running the new data sites in wormhole space (the ones from Nullsec) and encountered some items I have no clue what to do with. These are :

  • High-Tech Data Chip
  • High-Tech Manufacturing Tools
  • High-Tech Scanner
  • High-Tech Small Arms


In my inventory, and on EVE-Central they appear practically worthless.

So why was this added? What is the use for these items? Can anybody (or CCP) enlighten me?

I actually find it funny to find firearms in those sites :D
CCP should add all trade good in those, such as weed/coffee/ drugs. Now that would b exciting!

FFS, search for them in contracts... Of not found. And you don't want em, send em to me.
They are basically lore/ RP items of no intrinsic value to the gameplay.

OP question was I think what they are used for, so who buys these and why?

They aren't used for anything and are totally worthless. Data sites are still as terrible as ever.

The only difference is that now you don't have to jettison the crap quite as often to free up cargo space.

I seem to recall a fairly recent forum post from a Dev stating that the "high tech" items would shortly become materials for BPC's.. it wouldn't surprise me if that was for the new Polarized weapons.

Unless they change them it's not. I have built a Polarized Light Neutron Blaster and all it needed was the T2 version and a little more of the same materials to build the T2 one.

It would be nice if they were useful for something though. For now I am just accumulating them in hopes of some day using them for something!

Here is an idea: make bpos for festival launchers and fireworks available and make this stuff the inputs!
