question about drone speed rig

Hi guys,

i was wondering if the drone speed rig also boosts the orbital velocity of drones? the description of the rig states that the mwd speed gets a 20% boost and the drone speed a 10% boost. My problem is that when i put this in pyfa the drone mwd speed goes up but not the orbital velocity. Is this something that is not implemented in pyfa or does it really do nothing for the orbital velocity ingame?

Thanks in advance

ok guys got me an ishtar with the t2 drone speed rig, it doesn't do anything to the orbital velocity unfortunately, damn this would be really op i admit but if there is 1 thing that would make heavy drones epic it is faster orbital speeds, keep up with webbed cruisers and (some) frigs for example... or even more so, faster approach on ships within falloff, anyone who uses heavy drones knows how slow they can fly towards the next target (within let's say 7 - 12km from the drone) and meanwhile loosing a lot of dps.

No they don't affect orbit speed and you can be thankful for that. If they did, your drones would never hit anything that was tackled because they would outtrack themselves.

well i have had situations where 2 drones got 5 volleys of before the other 3 actually hit anything besides empty space... you are talking about mwd/ab speed (whatever that means, my drones have "rush to" and "orbit and hit", but that's pretty much it). let's say you web a cruiser, if the orbital velocity is higher, your drones would be able to get into there optimal tracking range/speed easier, not? the mwd speed and optimal/falloff desides if you get in range, the orbital speed determines if you actually hit the target, the better the optimal orbit - and thus speed - the harder you hit in theory (i know). drones in mwd only hit when approaching, the volleys after that are usually lost because of typical "ow are we there yet" bouncing around of drones when they reach the target. so yeah orbital velocity would increase there effectiveness quiet a bit imo. it's also what the rig is stating, 15% bonus to drone speed = normal drone speed, mwd/ab speed is top speed and this gets a 20% bonus?! so where is the 15% they are stating??? i only see a 20% increase in top speed = mwd speed. drones have ab'ers btw??

look my question was about the drone speed rig not giving the wright explanation about what it does. i don't need the orbital velocity to be higher, i already think heavy drones are awesome, certainly on bonussed hulls. just stating that there is no 15% drone speed increase, only a 20% mwd speed increase...

sorry for my late response btw...

grts

have to say that when a few drones are hitting and the others are on approach - the situation i wanted to refer to - the drones choose to slowboat towards the target because he is in falloff range. if the target at that point is moving away from your drones at a few hundreds of meters/sec, heavy drones will need some time to approach and hit for some dmg... medium and light drones would indeed maybe suffer from this rig but heavy drones would be more effective at closing range between close by (blobbed) targets.
