Orbiting direction

Hello and good morning

Quick question:

I was slowly orbiting my POS while chatting with some friends. Then when i clicked the AB module my ship turned around and continued to orbit, but the other way. Turning the Ab of made it turn back again.. and so on

What determines the orbital direction?

Thanks

I think it's generally where the ship is going at the time, however, the orbit system will try to compensate for the orbit range based on the speed and agility of the ship. If the speed is higher than the ship agility can handle you'll notice you'll orbit at a little distance further than the specified orbit.

When you turn the AB on and off the orbit is recalculated and can cause you to fly in the opposite direction. This is why some pros swear by doing manually done orbits with a series of double clicks so that this sort of thing never happens.
