Hey guys, so I am a little confused as to the changes to the skills effecting invention chance such as rocket science.

I realise they now give a 1% bonus to TE, but do they still effect the chance of invention? I currently have all the skills trained to 4, and was about to train them to 5 (pre-phoebe) but I am unsure if they still change the % chance post phoebe.

Thanks for any info.

Ok thanks, I was thinking they still must, but wanted to make sure before potentially wasting the next year of training.

Edit - Gulp, make that 438 day.....

If you're considering training those skills to 5, think long and hard about whether the extra 5% or less success chance is worth the near month train. 5% chance for ~700m ISK (PLEX)? Sounds like a bad deal to me.

Meh once you get to the 100+ mill sp lvl that's the only sort of stuff that's left really. My two pvp chars which are also 100mill sp+ are doing skills like gunnery specs 5, drone specs 5 etc.

If you hover your mouse over the probability value in the industry window it will display what skills are affecting it and by how much.

Data Interface removal: Data Interfaces are going to be removed from the game. We don’t feel they provide gameplay that’s valuable enough to keep around. Data Interfaces will be properly reimbursed when that happens.

Other changes that are coming for Phoebe are the removal of Data Interface and Subsystem Data Interfaces. Those will be properly reimbursed at market price. Blueprint copies will be reimbursed at a static price.

The biggest issue is the change in skills needed for T2 invention - besides that this does not make sense, what happened to the principle "if I could do it before the patch, I should be able to do it after"???

For inventing an Heretic, for example, Mechanical Engineering was needed, now High Energy Physics - Why did I not get the skill on the same level as Mech Engineering, as the patch was released ???? Becaus I have to buy the skillbook, and spend days and weeks on training the new skill up?? Come on CCP, this is just lame....

You mean the 'if you could *fly* it before, you can *fly* it after' principal for the ship skill changes? Things worked out that way because the ships don't check skill pre-reqs, just the skills themselves. The relevant example here would be if suddenly another skill was added as a pre-req for Mechanical Engineering, those already having trained Mechanical Engineering would not need to train the new skill pre-req. (and there was no equivalent promise made for the invention changes)

The dev blog announcing these changes was published a little under 2 months ago (2014-09-11). Plenty of time to train up a few skills that each take about a week to get to level 4.
