Ship recommendations for Mining Storyline Missions

Hi guys,

I'm mostly a noob to eve, but I've been doing mining agent missions (I'm primarily a full time miner atm).

Got a decent Mackinaw fit which suits well for mining missions in Level 3.

However, when I get a mining storyline mission, I'm finding great difficulty - I can really only fly frigates and destroyers at the moment (Gallente). I set up what I thought was a decent Algos for the missions and I got two-shot.

Can anyone recommend a decent ship + fit for mining storyline missions lvl 3 equivalent that will hopefully see me through to level 4 also? Obviously I'm willing to train required skills to get me into a suitable ship.

Thanks in advance,

Missadora.

Storyline missions are not dependent on the type of agent you were using last. You got a lvl 3 combat mission and of course your destroyed got shot to bits as those need something akin to a battlecruiser to get through.

If your drone skills are good, you could get a Skiff and fit it for combat instead of mining and wade through a lvl 3 combat mission, though it wouldn't be effective doing lvl 4 difficulty.

Also, you can just ignore a storyline mission when you don't accept it without penalties. If you then get enough missions for a storyline again, you may end up with another agent, that will give out hauling missions instead of combat ones.

What Abrazzar said, either ignore them completely or get into BC hull and skills to fly it properly. And it's usually this way that if you do combat missions storyline is either courier or mining and you get combat storyline for other two kinds. Basically storyline is always not the kind you are doing.

Or to be more precise: you get storyline from nearest storyline agent so you can influence what you get by proper selection of where you are running missions. But in my case it always happen to be mining or distribution agent so I tend to ignore them.

You could always ask somebody in local to clear that mission for you, contrary to popular belief not everybody in Eve is a total *******.

This, or of course, someone in your corp. At the end of the day this is a multi-player game, don't be afraid to ask for help!

I couldn't be bothered to check whether OP is in "real" corp or not but yeah corp work too especially if you are not the only weird one running missions :)

Ok, I checked. Holy crap, 162 members in primarily indy corp. I'm sure somebody has skills to help you. Or just blob that mission with 100 ventures (200 drones should be enough for anything) :)

Thanks everyone!

I will just ignore those missions for now then and concentrate on the mining ones until I can fly a decent BC fit.

Will probably do some security 1 and 2 missions too and work on my combat skills that way.

I have had quite a few helpful corpmates with previous lvl 2 missions as well (and lets face it, who doesn't love to blow things up?) so will have some company next time one of these comes along.

If it is having you mine actual ore not some mission specific ore, then just buy it off the market and complete the mission. Sell the implant (that is usually the reward).

I was dealing with the same issue with my market alt and made it through L3 storylines with a kitey cruiser with rather poor skills and a willingness to warp off frequently. But the best solution is to have someone else give you an assist. Shouldn't be hard to find someone willing in most corps.
