How to get rid of new "bing" sound

I have alot of targets added in Peoples & Places. After the last patch, I get constant "bing" noises every time one of these guys logs on or off.

While I commend the attempt to make the interface sound more like Facebook, I'm interested in the hidden secret that will allow the interface to return to it's previous quiet state.

If there is anyone out there who is not a troll, I'd appreciate instructions on how to shut off the constant annoying "bing" sounds. This should be more intuitive.

Thanks in advance.

Yer......some customization of notifications would be nice. Although CCP says very few people disabled them after enabling.....I'm one of those people who disabled them b/c I found them annoying. Now apparently I don't get a choice in the matter!

Notifications for some things are nice but as you mentioned.....if you have say 100+ contacts on the watchlist, the ding and that little red notification thingy that doesn't go away unless you check it are super annoying.

Hey it is blue now. I suggested that red are the things I want to shoot at most of the time and they should make the notifications in blue-ish. And they did Smile

the gear contains a setting menu which allows you to disable the sound.

The numbers that they got for the people who didn't disable the notifications might have a considerable flaw. There are undoubtedly many other players out there like me who would have disabled them...had we know how. Lol.

It was described in the Dev Blog how to enable and disable them.

It was also described in the Dev Blog how to customized the notifications.

Do people even read the forum, where there is a sticky here called "New Notification System - OFFICIAL Feedback thread".

Do people even read Dev Blogs these days? Reported for unreasonable ranting because of self-imposed hardship.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Come on now, Rivr. You're smarter than that, I've seen your posts around here.

People don't read dev blogs or patch notes or the EULA and you know it.

It's all explained in this Dev Blog, under the header 'HOW DOES IT WORK? (ALSO: HOW DO I TURN IT OFF)'
