Is Caracal for DED complexes still viable?

I've been looking to try running this sites for a while now but havent actually gotten around it. So no that its peaked my intrest i was wondering if i could get some input from you guys. Im mostly trained into caldari missile ships being able to fly up to a CNR @ avg proficiency. yet before making any big expenses want to try getting into this sort of sites in a t1 cruiser hull, i understand the vexor/ishtar is killer now but im really intrested in the caracal side. So my most important question (bear with me) HAM's or RLML's? Ugh I'd really apreciate your input! o7

Something like that should work ok. You'll have to lose 1 missile launcher for a probe launcher if you don't have an alt or a friend to scan for you. You'll want to upgrade to the Cerberus. Or maybe a slightly shiny Navy Caracal in the mean time...

Depends on what sort of DED site you are running. 1-4 are easy mode 5+ would hit a Caracal pretty hard and i doubt you would put out enough DPS to complete most.

Caracal might be pushing it for a 4 with less than 6 months skills or a large proportion of them devoted to battleship stuff.

Depends on the 4/10 and how focused your(their) skills are I guess.

I have run Sansha 4/10s in an Ishkur with drones only (150 DPS) and range tanked the sites, out side of 40KM the NPCs do 0 damage so tank is a non issue. A HM Caracal could do the same.

It would most likely come down to player skill rather than fitting/SP . Don't rush in balls deep if you have no tank ect

Caracal is a cheap T1 cruiser, Ishkur is getting on for the price of a battlecruiser and probably a similar amount of skills required. Inevitably if you use more ISK and skills then a mission becomes easier.

Edit: Additional thought: Given that the OP has battleship skills then they also have battlecruiser skills so for the price of an Iskur they could use a battlecruiser for a 4/10 without having to train anything. Downside, BC are more slugish and exploration can be a race against time.

I have just stolen a site from a Caracal who had killed the overseer in a Sansha 4/10 so it must be possible at least with good skills.

PS the reason I mentioned the ishkur was to provide a tanking/DPS requirement for finishing the site. Not to recommend it. There are way better ships its just that My alt has no gun skills and i wanted something semi AFK to run the site while my Main continued to scan low.

Yes but consider the possibility that you have to warp out 6 times, what are the chances that someone is going to steel the site from you ?

Yes a Cerberus is the way to go certainly if your going to be popping Guristas. The natural resists on a Cerberus are perfect for attacking Guristas
