You'll need to move your extractor heads and sometime extractors. Not the rest of the stuff.
The planets do regen, dunno if anyone has done any investigation of how fast. It is related to the prevalence of the resource as shown by the planet scan.

As for quantities, look at how much material each factory needs as input materials and how often it cycles. That, combined with the number of factories you need tells you how much material you need per hour.

There is no way to move a command center or any other non-ECU head facility. You have to delete and re-install.

Not being nasty, but are you just not reading what I wrote?

You will need to move the extractor heads.
You will need to move (delete and rebuild) the extractors from time to time, though less often than the heads.
You will NOT need to move the rest of the stuff you have on the planet. (rest meaning anything other than the aforementioned two items)

Depending on how tight the colony is on fitting, they may not have enough grid/CPU to support links stretching all the way across the planet. As long as their colony isn't dependent on being connected to the Command Center (which it shouldn't be if you have a Launch Pad), you can pick up and move everything if you need to. So far, I haven't had to, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to on one of my planets fairly soon.

No

You would just move the extractor and the heads. ALL buildings should be static (CC, factories and storage)

This was put out by CCP Incognito in 2010 (I don't know if it's changed since then) - note 'D'.

There appears to be some wrong information floating around.

A) Yes there is depletion, the more extractors that are in an area the faster a resource depletes. How fast depends on how many extractors and what kind of deposits you use. There is a 'ideal' number of players for each planet based on factors I am not going to reveal.
B) Resource regenerate over time.
C) There is a minimum resource level, it is defined as a percentage of the initial un-depleted value.
D) There is no redistribution of resources, it works like a hole. You dig a hole with extractors and it fills back in over time. If you dig at the same rate as it refills the hole it will never empty.

Hope this clears things up.

One of the most important things in choosing the planet you set up on is it's radius.

The smaller the planet, the more "reach" you get for your CPU with your links.

I've found gas planets in null so resource rich you can fap to them but with a 40 000/R you can burn out
your immediate max extracting radius in 10 days and then you are settling for a more mediocre yield per day.

Resources do replenish, but oh so slooooowly.

tl/dr : Pick a planet with a small radius if you can help it as it allows you much better flexibility in accessing resources.
(Especially when you wish to change up resources.)
