General newbro here but I've been hanging around in low/null sec since about a month after I started or so.

Now then, I mainly started Caldari and made the stupid decision of not knowing what I wanted to specialize in. For a while it was missioning, then mining, then salvaging, and I went every which way until I joined my first corp. I got into the general swing of PvP on Eve and trained almost exclusively ECM.
Drama happened and I went to solo Lvl 4 missions for a while. Got pretty settled in a CNR with a pretty efficient fit.

Fast forward a few months and I'm now looking to train into Amarr for the sake of PvP.
I'm pretty much training from the ground up and I have a good foundation of necessary skills (CPU, PG, Weapon Upgrades, etc), however, I'm stuck at whether to focus on Amarr Frigates or Cruisers first.

I mostly fly around solo when nothing else is going on. We only ever run small fleets in FW or roam around nullsec in frigate/cruisers. For the time being, I can fallback on Caldari ships until an Amarr replacement is trained up and I know Amarr has some sexy Frigs and Cruisers, I'm just not sure where to focus first.

I've had my eye on Omen/Nomen and Navy Aug.
And I know Retribution, Slicer, and some of the T1 Frigs are pretty nice.

Any help is appreciated.

Cruiser skills build from frigate skills pretty well. Lots of the prerequisites for a good cruiser fit are good frigate skills. Only big difference is training frig to V. I'd personally get some basic skills for cruisers then get into t2 frigs with t2 guns with support skills at IV. Then go into t2/t3 cruisers from there.

There are a few Amarr T2 ships that use missiles so you might want to have a look at those .

It was more a matter of:

A) Train up Assault Frigs / Small Energy + supports
or
B) Train up Cruisers / Medium Energy + supports

I wanted to at least have something Amarr-based by the 4th but I've given myself some more time and decided to just stick to Frigs for now. If I need a cruiser I can always screw around in a Caracal.
