Why the hell would you shield tank a Talos?

Try to armor fit your Lachesis and see the difference vs the shield Lachesis with over 55K ehp, both point at same distance.

There are many Gallente ships that work as shield tankers. The Talos isn't one of them.

To shield tank it, you're giving up your awesome tackling suite (scram and dual webs) and 30% of your EHP for a bit of extra DPS, range and speed. Great! Brilliant! Fantastic!

Problem is, that counts for absolutely nothing because all your targets will just warp away and laugh at you.

Pointless. Literally.

Sure, it might not be the best idea in isolation, in an ideal world where the Talos is the only ship. But that's not the real world. In the real world of EVE combat, you have to compare a setup to all ships in the game. And you have to ask questions like "why am I flying a Talos in the first place".

The answer of course is that you need both battleship-level dps and cruiser-level speed and agility, probably because you're flying in a cruiser-and-below gang. If your priority is just dps/tank and speed doesn't matter, why aren't you flying a battleship instead and getting more of both?

So, if you're going to fly a Talos and make good use of its strengths, you either fit a shield tank or no tank at all.

If you're flying alone, fly a brutix/myrm/ferox/drake etc. Their medium weapon resolution offers much more versatility.

The Tier 3 BC's are fleet ships, a cheaper alternative to battleships, and are a magnitude more expensive to purchase and fit than their pre-existing siblings. nearly all ships ultimately die under the same circumstance: overwhelmed, not outperformed.

Tier 3's should be in cruiser gangs as a damage dealer whore, and leave the tackle to tackle. You aren't tackle in this ship. If you are, don't fly this. Fly a dram, an inty, vaga/diemost, etc.

Pick your role, then pick your ship for the role, then fit to the ship. Don't pick a ship and fit to the role.

I don't know about you guys, but in every small gang I've ever flown in, any ship (barring battleships, logistics and snipers) that doesn't have at least one point fitted, is a total fail, because you never know when you'll be the only ship in range to point something. The shield Talos can't point anything ever, which is why no self-respecting FC would ever allow it in a fleet.

Pretty sure talos has enough mids to fit a piont...
