Rookie Ship Handout Tweak

I'm not a regular on the forums so not too sure if this has been suggested before or not. However I've been thinking about what would to me, be a minor improvement in the rookie ship insurance system.

At the moment, every time we dock at a station we get a notification and a free rookie ship. Now I like these and find them useful, but the thing is I don't want them all the time and it is often an unwanted irritation to keep trashing these over and over as well as opening the mail and look at the notification so that it doesn't continue to flash. When I for example move 2 toons and they dockup and 1 transfers a ship to the other, when I relog I keep getting these and it can be a little annoying, especially as it takes me a while to open my notifications with my terrible specs (with the new notification changes this may not be as big an annoyance as before).

My proposal is simple: When a player docks at an empty station in their pod, or relogs and has no ship there, instead of automatically being given the rookie ship and insurance notification, there is a button in the Station Services Panel which you have the option to click if you want the ship. Of course when you recieve the rookie ship, or already had a ship in the station (ie are not viable to collect a rookie ship anyways) the button is Greyed out.

It's not the most ground breaking proposal ever and won't revolutionise EVE, but it's to me an apparent fix to what at times is a slightly annoying game mechanic. Any thoughts, suggestions or further discussion is much appreciated.

I agree that auto noobships can be annoying and inefficient.

I think an even easier fix would simply be a popup dialog when you dock in a station in a pod:

"Do you want a noob ship?" Click yes or no.

Easier to implement, and not a setting I have to track.

Either way, not a high-priority change, but one that would be nice.

...which is fine, don't get me wrong.

And funny you are mentioning it because if you would have scrolled down a bit you could have seen that even this forum section has more than one page.

At least three pages down the line would have found two more threads about Rookie ships. Even if they are closed or not they contain responses for everyone on Earth to read them.

Carry on
