Ideas for missions...

Just some ideas to spice up missions...

1) Spawn some missions near planets or moons. Gets kinda dull going to some random pocket of empty space.

2) Have some variety other than pew pew. Maybe make some security missions that require you to do a support role like remote rep or ECM for a friendly force against an enemy. Or maybe go repair or resupply some concord ships at a gate. Maybe even go on patrol with concord.

3) Do some sciency stuff. Have some missions that have you explore, use probes, D-Scan, investigate planets/moons/starts, repair/scan structures like stations/gates/custom offices etc.

4) Get rid of the concept of agents at stations, it's a terrible game mechanic that breaks the flow of the game - by this I mean having to go back to the station each time to talk to the agent. Create a new UI that shows all agents in your current region. From there you can see a list of corp agents active in that region and jobs (missions) available. Similar to the marketplace UI, a treeview on the left showing faction/corporation/mission type. Then on the right show a list of available missions showing the mission name, system and reward value.

5) Influence people to cross the border from hisec to lowsec and vice-verse. Let your sec status influence the mission reward (probably needs smarter people than me to think this through). So if I have a positive sec status and I accept and complete a mission that brings me into low sec I'll get a significant bonus. The higher the gap between the system status and my sec status, the higher the reward. If I had a negative sec status, missions in hi sec would pay more.

You should try PvP. Covers pretty much everything you've mentioned.

I have 2 alts in FW, I love PvP too. But I do various things in EVE to keep me entertained.

The idea of the suggestions is to get people exploring, going into dangerous territory, learning some support skills and how to use the scanners plus expand on the scifi element of EVE. Missions should be a stepping stone for those that want to PvP, but also provide danger, variety and excitement for those that don't.

then i think your going about it all wrong. Missions could be closer to PvP, but not like this. The new burner missions are a better experience for that. But even they wont be interesting forever.

missions are boring, as you know, but what would be even worse is having to be doing e-war while AI ships duke it out in the most pathetic display of combat the game could conceive. And this is even more so for structure bashing and repping in missions. those are boring activities in a PvP environment, let alone a repetitive PvE grind. It may make a nice change the first time you do it, maybe even the second. But after the hundredth time? the thousandth time?

This is the important part when it comes to looking for excitement and danger. There is no, nor will there ever be, a PvE environment that adapts enough to stay fresh. Everything that can be created PvE wise will be run a million times, completed, mastered, guides posted on the internet about how to exactly run it, clocked and farmed a million million times over.

The only way to keep PvE fresh is to constantly update with thousands of hours of work, millions of pounds spent and endless power creep. And even then you end up with a **** game (diablo III) and/or lose subscribers (WoW).

TL:DR

If you want a game that is challenging, adapts to you and stays fresh, get out of PvE. Get into PvP.

I doubt there is anything that anyone can create PvE wise that will not become a tedious bore in a week.

I appreciate your defeatism and really admire how you cannot conceive of a reality where others may not want to do PvP now and then. How about let's not do anything different ever.
