salvagers unite!

how many times have you gone to a site to see minable ore? These exact same sites have huge wrecks in them... How much easier would it be to salvage these huge wrecks!~ I see massive loads of armor plates and burnt conduits, yet I can do nothing with them. Why not make these pretty pictures salvageable just like an asteroid is mineable. ???????????

make the wreck have a value same as an asteroid. Give some of it a inexpensive compound, scrap, and then a chance of armor plate, burnt conduits etc... I hate mining, but I do a lot of salvaging. I'm treated like a lower sub class of the poverty stricken trash like a non-capsuleer. You all realize that Rigs are made from salvage right? And what we don't process into rigs is scrap. A byproduct of what was mined long ago. It should be just as profitable to refine scrap as it was to mine it. Basically the miners did all the hard work, reprocessing scrap should be even more profitable than mining imo. Perhaps less scrap available, but just go to a data or relic site, go to just about any site and you see minable asteroids amongst non salvageable wreckage.

new salvage sites:
derelict sites
Forgotten battlefields
drone cashes
etc...

Salvage that stuff !!!!!!!!!!! The few, the proud, salvagers of eve need to unite and be represented in the ever evolving world of eve!!!!!!!!!!!

The absolute best thing that could be done for salvagers is a harsh nerf to the MTU and Noctis, halving of salvage drop rates and a significant increase in salvage volume in cubic metres.

I thought I'd try to salvage the thread, but it looks hopeless.

I seem to remember some relic sites requiring a salvaging module before the hacking mini game in order to unlock the given container/debris.

Soo the obvious question remains, why don't you just fit a relic analyzer module and go run some relic sites to get your precious salvage? Perhaps the wrecks you see floating around in other sites are so damaged and withered away by solar radiation that they're fubar?

But relic sites are already salvage source;
among large scale fights.

I think people who focus on salvaging are not utilising the full resources available to them; open map, look for most players in low-nullsec. Go there, find wrecks and salvage. In FW we have a bunch of people following Caldari and Gallente around looking for fights on gates and in plexs.

Sounds like what you want is to make it more explicit. The reason why there are dedicated relic/data sites is cos there is nothing else to hack. I bet if you could hack POSs, data and relic sites could have been truncated into an activity similar to salvaging.

I wish more people would realize this. Usually when CCP "buffs" your ability to harvest a resource, it leads to reduced income for everyone involved in the long term. Just look at how cheap profession site drops are now that anyone in a T1 frigate can run them. Supply goes up and demand doesn't make up for the collapse in prices.

You get what you asked for, but it might not be what you wanted.

Yes. CCP should just nerf everything into the ground. Make it so there's only 1 unit of tritanium per 1mil units of veldspar. A maximum of 10 units of PI material per day, and so on. That would fix Eve. Roll

Do you disagree with what he said? Just increasing the amount of stuff you get without additional changes to the consumption of those items will just crash the price of the items you get as loot. It's not a buff for the people making a living of such activity. It's just more items flooding the market, that you're trying to make a living from selling. Making things more accessible and requiring less skills, player and character, will have the same affect as a result of new players trying that activity and bringing the prices down again. In order to make sure the items you gather up are actually wanted, you need to keep the supply in some relation to the consumption. If the problem is, that particular loot items aren't worth crap anymore, the solution is to increase consumption or reduce the amount of loot being injected to the system in the first place.

Easy way if you ask me is making stuff limited (same as faction laser crystals for example).I mean you use that MWD, AB or MJD, let it decay, even if just a bit. Same goes for everything one uses, even rigs. That way i`d be "forced" to buy new rigs every month or so, making salvage more useful. I know it can be frustrating to keep an eye out for decay but same goes for checking if you have ammo in cargo before undocking...

Ama and Boltorano have got it. Salvaging used to be a good profession but not any more. Do you remember when ninja salvaging used to be a good way for noobs to earn iskies? I looked at the figures recently and it is a joke.

The Noctis crashed salvage prices and the MTU finished them off. And this contributed to deflation in the overall economy last year. Deflation. If you think this would be helped by increasing the amount of salvaged materials on the market then you have no idea what you are talking about.

'Buffing salvaging' actually means increasing isk/hour from salvaging. This will not be achieved by increasing the amount of stuff salvaged because this would just result in the value of that salvage dropping even further. So you either want to increase the demand for salvage or decrease the amount of salvage on the market. The former would probably require industry modification. The latter would just require a nerf.

If you have to nerf something just to raise it's price, nerf the drop rate. Don't go dicking about with all sorts of ships, skills, and modules to achieve the same ends. It's less productive. So let's just nerf everything. Far be it from CCP to actually add content to the PvE side of eve that might affect the economy, such as new items that use overabundant resources.
Instead of making MTU's and Mobile Depots, etc. out of standard materials & PI materials, they could have used overabundant salvage & PI materials, for example.
There are ways of creating value that don't involve nerfing everything to the ground.
