So for bombs and maybe torpedoes it would be nice to have a flat bonus to damage. It gets kind of old because they ONLY have a use in fleets and they don't work with bombs other types because they blow each other up.

Point is it would be nice if everybody could benefit from the bonus without having to fly the same exact ships.
for example
a nemesis gets 5% thermal bomb damage lets get 5% bomb damage of all types. Do that for all ships to make smaller bomber gangs a little more effective... I think its silly that each race has a damage type specific bonus. As far as I know this is the ONLY Galante ship with a elemental bonus. Why the exception?

It is no exception.

Many Caldari ships have bonuses for specific damage types (ex. Kinetic). Even the Helios has a bonus specifically geared towards thermal damage on drones (though, it IS the Helios... so yeah).

You also have to consider than many races are already locked into certain damage profiles by default due to their favored/bonused weapons.

Lasers always deal some combination of EM and Thermal damage.
Blasters and Railguns always deal some combination of Kinetic and Thermal damage.
Even projectile ammo is only semi-flexible... always dealing SOME Kinetic or Explosive damage in any particular ammo (except T2 projectile ammo... which is locked in Explosive and Kinetic damage).

Missiles are the only exception to all this paradigm.



Also... "racial flavor."

Just because its always been that way doesn't mean it should stay that way.

I know you can use any type but you loose your bonus. I am not going to spend 10 years training into ALL races.

Ok but none of those things you mentioned render the rest of your fleet useless. If you blow up my bomb that's an issue. If I use light drones In a Gila I am not going to affect you. If I Buffer tank my hyperion I am not going to affect you. If I use non kinetic missiles I am not going to affect you. If I use a thermal bomb while the fleet is using kinetic I kill all your bombs and ruin the fleet.

Do you see the difference between bombing and the examples you provided? Bombs are more penalized.

On a side note I am tired of people constantly calling those who point things like this out and give reasonable suggestions being called whiners. Since when is giving a suggestion and being logical considered whining.

Its not the suggestion that people particularly have an issue with, more that you consider training for a week to give yourself another option 'a joke'.

Really your complaining about getting rank 2 skills to V. But you have three options: quit, buy a character, or just train them for diversity. That bomb damage bonus is worth enough to you to post on the forums, but not to train for a few weeks? Living evidence of why we really don't need to pander to new players.

you are a whiner because you are trying to tone down one aspect of the game for no particular reason other than the ppl in your fleet or you are just too damn stupid to use the same type of bomb.
because a bomber have a racial bonus to a certain bomb doesn't meant it HAVE TO use that bomb, if a manticore use a thermal bomb it just lose a 20-25% damage, just build your fleet around the most common race and make everyone use the same bomb.

CCP wants me to spend a month training to get 5% bomb damage bonus. That's a little ridiculous. If you old players have nothing to do but be bitter and flame people go away.

8 days to train each frigate skill to 5 is spending 10 years? Ok. Maybe you should quit if this is an inconvenience to you.
