Black/blank screen after char selection, never loads

I've been having this problem off and on for a few weeks now. It appears to be either due to poor packet loss handling or the client spazzing out as a result of what appears to be a "logout to character selection screen" feature that is poorly implemented. It affects me sometimes for days at a time and makes the game unplayable. After selecting a character the screen goes blank and never loads, I am online and actually connected to the server when this happens as I've been able to have some UI elements load when pressing hotkeys and can pull up the escape menu. I've lost training time on multiple characters and accounts because of this as when it occurs I am unable to update skill queues, which I've petitioned separately. I've mentioned it several times in the eve facebook group and had others mention having the same issues. I've done everything I can think of on my end (restarted game, rebooted, cleared game cache, turned graphics settings to minimum, powercycled entire home network, launching via exefile.exe, launching in safemode, etc) short of completely reinstalling the game to try to correct the matter and nothing has worked. This leads me to believe it is not a problem on my end or something I'm capable of correcting myself. Looking through these forums I don't see anyone else mentioning this particular problem, so if any of you are having it please speak up and help bring it to CCP's attention. If anyone has suggestions for workaround also please let me know. I haven't yet installed EVE Probe but plan to make that my next step, atleast that should give me diagnostic or system data to send in a petition.

Still unable to play. 4th full day of this. Downloading eve probe now so I can link whatever info it generates. What?

okay, so i ran a repair and it fixed the game. things were working pretty well. then i created a new character on another account and now things are broken again. ran repair, still broken. that repair only showed this that stands out to me. trying it another time to see if i get the same error again.

DBRunRecoveryError: (-30974, 'DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery -- PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery')

so how do i run a database recovery and why would creating a new character break the game requiring me to?

I think i have the same problem. i had just jumped though a gate and the drop down menu and the overview was now working, so i safe logged out but when i logged back in all i get is the black screen. I tried logging in on my laptop but had the same problem. When it logs in i can hear the it enter warp but everything is black. When i mess with the settings i can get a quick flash of everything but only for a sec.

same issue for me. instead of character choice it stays black and nothing happens any more. argh.

OK, i got in, hopefully downtime fixed the problem permanently. But if it returns ill be back.
