Hello,

After flying the Covert ops class of ships (Black Ops / Recons / Stratios / Covert Ops), I am a little disappointed that there is nothing covert about them except for their cloak.

You see, when I enter local with any Covert Ops ship, I am discovered, no longer covert, because my name shows up on intel immediately through local chat. How is this covert? Only the most inexperienced of players will not dock up seeing a neutral in local, regardless of his cloaking abilities.

To contrast this, imagine a Special Forces team sneaking into enemy territory. This is covert, since the enemy doesn't know the team is there. They don't yell or phone the enemy to tell them they are in the area. In EvE, a covert team cannot sneak into enemy territory, or be truly stealth, because local chat yells out your name and all the information a pilot needs to know to avoid you.

So, local chat gives 0.0 ratters all the possible intel, except for shiptype. But who gives a crap about that, since all you need to know is that it is not friendly and check zkill to see if its a bait or cyno.

What I am trying to get at is not to remove local, but to make Covert Ops ships not appear in local chat... if at least for 10 mins or so. This would allow for true covert gameplay, whereas the covert gameplay right now is limited for those wishing to fight the big guy.

Tell me what you think!

I think you should have learned to search forums before you posted nerf-local post #38,549,126.

Agreed. Ships that can fit covops cloaks should have a 10 min total delay before showing up in a systems local, with a cooldown of say 2 hours, so you cant just hop systems and be invisible forever.

I like it. This would also help against botters. At the moment their script just lets them dock up as soon as a neut enters local.

Perhaps it would be better to tweak local to:

- only show ships that appear on grid with a stargate, normal cyno, any celestial, station or another ship
- entering system via a stargate would insert you in local registry only after you break your gate cloak

This would give advantage to BLOPS ops and possibly encourage nullseccers to utilize wormhole connections more.

I'm sure some people would. After all, wormhole people make tons of money running anoms with no local at all.

because you would be too scared to put your drake out of station doesnt mean other would be too ... wormholes has no local and farming there is pretty fine ... btw i dont knwo why CCP didnt remove local from whole game alredy since so many ppl is asking for it and few so called "enlighted ones of forum" are making idiots from them ... this is pretty much same every time local thread is around ... every time different ppl are asking for remove local and everytiem same ppl are trolling their posts ... tbh i think there is enough ppl who want local gone to make CCP consider removing it actually ...

The amount of people claiming that since w-space has no local and works fine then k-space should work the same way is astounding. Think a bit, what else does w-space lack that is making headlines this week?
