I've looked up several threads on this but couldn't find any reasons against implementing this feature. so...any chance we might get this at some point? I don't think it makes me a better pilot to hit a button every 8 seconds for hours

Because sometimes players forget to klick and through such fails there are opportunities for the enemy.
If the D-Scan is refreshed automatically that won´t happen.

And be serious is it so hard to push a button every 8 seconds ?

I think you should be able to kill someone because you're better than him not because he's a bad player Smile

it's not hard, all I'm saying is..thousands of years in the future where we explored the entire galaxy and invented unimaginable technology...we have to push a button every few seconds... if we had to solve a captcha every time I hit scan I'd agree with you that it's a measure of being good

the fact that you have to click it is part of the balancing the D-scan is an extremely powerful tool and as such you are made so that you can't do anything else when you go to click that button

If the ability to click was removed at the same time and the interval increased such that a GOOD prober could be in and out between "pings".....maybe.

Until then, I'll keep tuning out the sensor is still recalibrating messages....

I agree no manual control and 30 second timer might add meet the OP intent of adding more risk to eve.

Is that my two cents or yours?

well, I didn't mean to change game balance as in adding or removing risk, just to remove a repetitive action that makes me feel like I have OCD...

as for making the game too easy by automating this. I admit I'm not really into pvp but if the only way you can catch someone is by hoping they make a huge mistake, doesn't that mean you need to find a better approach?

In the future the systems like direction scan should require calibration so 30 seconds could work.

Is that my two cents or yours?

Also think of the server load. Automation means having a lot more local queries every few seconds for every ship undocked. And many ships aren't really needing it. Flying a quick shuttle between highsec points A to B? You really don't need to be dscanning.

It doesn't sound like much, but wait until the next time there's a few thousand ships undocked in the same area for an event or battle. Want TiDi to be that much worse due to each ship quering data that it really doesn't need and the pilot isn't even paying attention to?

Please tell me: in which situation do you need to spam dscan for hours? Shocked

in my case running missions for half a day and not wanting to be ganked... despite having a cheap ship and being in hisec I've seen several times 10 thrashers warp into my pocket. I guess they're just doing it for "fun"

Then change system.
