CCP just knows how much TEST loves checkboxes, I'm sure they thought making you deal with even more of them was a great idea.

It's a lot like a remember me box that you need to check each and every time you log in. It remembers to forget and makes sense because :ccp:

Just tie a piece of string around your finger to remind you to check the note in your pocket, that tells you tell check to make sure the checkbox is ticked.

You can put a yellow post it note on your monitor to remind you why you have a piece of string tied around your finger.

I've read the petition text. I'll tell you right now, it's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read.

The GM flat-out says the autopay checkbox doesn't autopay the bill and that the mechanic is working entirely as intended.

It's like CCP GMs have some sort of aggressive brain cancer that causes them to be disgustingly bad at customer service and unable to realize simple things, like the fact that an autopay button not autopaying isn't an intended mechanic.

The entire GM system is essentially broken. There's no legitimate accountability for any sort of GM action because publicly displaying the text of a petition is forbidden. We can't go and yell at a GM on Facebook/Twitter/the forums because rather than addressing the issue, it's far more convenient to simply ban the player who posted their petition, delete/lock the thread and sweep it under the rug. The CCP Internal Affairs e-mail is a joke as well; nothing ever gets accomplished by e-mailing them because the people that run it are also GMs.

There isn't any point in contesting a broken mechanic; you're not going to get anywhere because it's easier for GMs to ignore the issue and close your petition.

The thing that frustrates me beyond all the other problems with the GM system and CCP in general is that this is a serious, potentially game-breaking issue. We've already seen one alliance disband less than 48 hours after the deployment of Crucible due to this mechanic and there's no reason that should have occurred other than developer negligence.

This is the sort of thing that needs to be hotfixed immediately when discovered. Any corporate director right now can log in and break the alliance auto-pay checkbox. They can do it moments before alliance bills are due to be paid.

I know alliances have been disbanded in the past (BoB, UFA, Ushra'Khan), but that was due to legitimate alliance directors and CEOs going rogue. The difference here is that any director of any corporation in the alliance can essentially disband your alliance provided they time it right. That's a broken mechanic that needs to be fixed as soon as humanly possible, considering the timeframes required to re-establish an alliance in their space (weeks for jump bridges, two months for sovereignty V, a week just to take a station when timed properly).

Just watch, though. Nothing's going to happen. It took a mass protest and diminishing subscription numbers in order to get the developers to introduce something as standard as iterative balance (and all they did for sovereignty warfare was inadvertently buff supercapitals by making them properly Remote ECM Burst-immune), and no one should have any faith that problems and bugs, even ones as major as this, will be fixed promptly with their track record.

Uhoh! It's again the time CCP manages to surprise me. The very moment I thought that releasing an update with 20-sec-to-open map is the most retardеd thing I've seen in this game, I learned about the checkbox that's more retardеd than the map. What's next? I am scared!

Well, duh, the automatic payment checkbox is not automatic. You can submit a feature request for another checkbox that makes the automatic payment checkbox automatically check. That makes sense.

Just make sure you check monthly to make sure the checkbox to automatically check the automatic payment checkbox has not been randomly unchecked.

brb, paying sov bills on the sly.

EDIT: Having also read the petition back-and-forth, I can confirm that this GM appears to have been lobotomized in the logical-thought lobe.

Well they aren't likely going to comment on individual GM replies in this thread but their suggestion that a large amount of alliances after the last major patch all had their checkboxes unticked at the same time due to a series of amazing coincidences is a bit odd!

Once this happened with LAWN we did a check on our autopay checkbox (unchecked) TEST had a check on theirs (unchecked) we then did a quick hollar to neutrals we keep in touch with (c0ven unchecked, a few more unchecked) and either this was simply the most amazing use of completely unknown and unintended game mechanics on a large scale as to be one of the better griefing attempts in the history of EVE,

or this GM simply got it wrong and put some throwaway comment into the response box instead of properly investigating the issue as is their job.

Personally I'm betting on coincidence and encourage you to not escalate this petition as fast as you can.

Another case of GMs doing something the player base disagrees with (like banning the ability to scam in recruitment chat).
