Hello people,

Do you think it is possible to do level 3 missions in this Maller setup? I know it's better to have a battlecruiser for level 3's but I just want to know if this will work. If not what could I change to make it work?
My only concern is that with all level 5 skills, according to EFT cap lasts 1 min 20 seconds
I welcome all suggestions regarding doing level 3's in a maller Smile

You'll get better feedback from the Ships and Modules section of the forums.

First off: not a clue

Taking that into account:

- I prefer cap booster charges compared to a cap-recharger
- I prefer Pulselasers
- You have an active tank so I'd use a different armor rig than the trimark
- Using resist rigs means less ability to tank for specific NPC's

And yeah. A battlecruiser like the Harbinger will feel more comfortable.

Assuming you're training for Amarr you should get a dual rep pulse harbinger to do them. Better tank, better dps, faster completion.
And when you're done with the level 3's you should rethink your EVE career, as recent studies have shown that mission running will slowly kill your soul.

EDIT:

What missions are you doing anyways that warrants a kin-exp resist setup? Gursitas? Blood raiders?

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

I'm guessing he's going for an omni resist tank

I was hoping to use mission specific resists, I probably should have mentioned that.

Only thing I've ever fit a Maller for was PVP. That being said, I have run a few level 3s, and I preferred the Ishkur for them.

I think you are correct, the point of running missions is to get more isk in less time so I would rather use a ship that would get the job done.

I was just looking for a challenge since level 1's and 2's have been a no brainer so far. I really want to go into null and do missions but I don't want to get podded in the process since I don't really have that much ISK to begin with

So if you are looking for a challenge and fun, sniping the baddies away with a beam Maller could indeed be interesting.
In that case you wouldn't need a huge tank, damage and range is your tank, while the Maller's resist bonus means that it basically come with a free EANM II build in, so you could drop that, too, in lieu of more dps and cap stability.

Something like this:

2x Heat Sink II
Passive mission specific hardener
Passive mission specific hardener
Medium Armor Repairer II
Capacitor Power Relay II

Cap recharger II
10 MN AB II
Targeting computer II, Optimal Range script

5x Focused Medium Beam Laser II

CCC I
Energy Locus Adjuster I
Energy Metastasis Adjuster I

3x light Drone II to taste

Of course, the tank is weak, but it hits out to 34+ 9,8 km with IN standard or even 61+ 9,8 km with Aurora.
Cap lasts 6m18s with IN Standard + everything running.
But you should rarely need your armor repper, anyway- just warp out if the enemy gets too close.
Efficient? No way.
But maybe it will make mission running less boring.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

Lows: drop the EANM and nano plating, add two more heat sinks, and swap out hardeners for each mission
Mids: drop the web add tracking computer with range script, keeping tracking script in hold
Highs: Pulse Lasers with Scorch. Put tracking script into tracking computer if having difficulty tracking frigs, which you shouldn't
Rigs: CCC and energy weapon damage rigs

If you have to do more than pulse your armor rep, you're doing it wrong, get a BC. As long as you can keep cap stable ~50% with ab on, you're good.

does anyone know if the high slots on the maller were reduced from 6 to 5?

No clue, don't fly Amarr ships even though I can fly all the t2 destys, cruisers, and BCs. My suggestion for fitting is based solely on my experience running missions, and how I have fit other armor tanks for them. Personally though, I wouldn't run lvl 3s in a t1 cruiser. Use a BC, HAC, faction cruiser, or Assault Frig if you want some fun flying.

She has five highs now.

Since you are running an active tank, I suggest you get one of those resist shift hardeners, you might be surprised how good they are.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

In terms of efficiency and challenge, while the received wisdom is certainly to move to a battlecruiser, you may want to take a look at the Arbitrator.
While it is a disruption hull and therefore has fewer HP, on all levels, than the Maller (what cruiser doesn't have fewer HP than a Maller Blink) it's drone bonused and can be shield tanked effectively. The highslot choice is quite flexible, assaults perhaps for small stuff, heavy assaults for large, and as there is no gun bonus you're free to use whatever you want on there...

I haven't flown one since tiericide so perhaps I'm way off base - but I knew people who swore by it as an L3 boat.
