So, if CCP says that at it's core it's a PvP game...how come you claim it isn't?

You said that it was designed to be a PvP game. That's very different then having the game be based around PvP at it's core. There are many different avenues to play the game that don't involve direct PvP combat, and these were intentionally designed into the game to provide a diverse gameplay experience for all types. The reason PvP is at the core of Eve is because all of the activities are free for anyone to use as they see fit, so competition inevitably ensues, which is the definition of PvP in the strictest sense. Just because CCP has said player interaction is the core of their mmo doesn't mean the game is only about blowing up spaceships, no matter how large a part it might often play.

You clearly have a different definition of PvP.

PvP is more then spaceship vs spaceship violence.

2 exploration frigates, probing / racing for the same signature in high-sec....PvP
2 traders trying to outbid each other on the market...PvP
2 miners, trying to mine the same asteroid for its minerals...PvP
2 industrialists building and selling the same item for ISK...PvP.

PvP is MUCH more then spaceship vs spaceship violence, but unlike that violence, it's much more covert and indirect.

Which is pretty much the same thing I posted...

The point is:
2 mission runners selling LP items for ISK... PvP.

The mission runner profession is just as valid and just as much a part of the Eve universe as all the things you listed.

In a perfect world, we'd have an external tool that allows us to create custom missions, using an interface similar to that of the old Tony Hawk customization tools. We could submit these missions to CCP, they could pick the best ones and add them in.

There could be missions that involve a lot more than just shooting rats, you'd be giving the community tools to add hacking, burning, evasion and the like into the mission fold as they are so rarely included right now.

There would be a limitless amount of missions this way, in the same way there is a limitless amount of worlds in a game like Terraria or Minecraft.

Of course limited resources and all that.

Hey guys.

That would be market PvP. It is my understanding that missions are unlimited in supply, and thus there is no competition for them.

As to the topic, missions won't ever be worked on because CCPs answer is to add new types of PvE which are better/more interesting, i.e. closer to PvP.

Combat missions are good to learn the basics about navigation and ships. They give good ISK and the required standing for other activities. But once you completed them all multiple times, and reached your standing goals, IMO it becomes a assembly-line kind of job payed in ISK, highly optimized with 0 tolerance for error. Why would you spend your valuable spare time doing that? I stopped running lvl4s the day I reached 8.0 with FN to get my own set of jump clones (yeah, I know I could have stopped earlier, but this was my goal Blink). There is one exception, I really like to do the Epic Arc string of missions every three months.

I'm my own NPC alt.

I was referring to the competition of finding the best LP/isk value to run missions for, something that changes based on the number of people who pursue it. You're right it's a bit of a stretch, but come on, how many people would think of mining as PvP?

As for working on missions, I'd argue that CCP is interested in upgrading and adding to them judging by their comments on the matter and the recent addition of burner missions.
