Knowing about the other TOR, you naughty boy you. Anyhow, get used to it. There are only so many three-letter acronyms to go around, and TOR is already established within the gaming community as another acronym for SWTOR, and no amount of whining on your part is going to change that. There is a little thing called "context" which helps most people distinguish one TOR from the other, but I'll gladly collect your tears Pirate

Mine are flavoury, gooey and whiteish and dont drop from my eyes, so collect them all , I love seeing people collecting them, I even make videos of it. Blink

Anyway, to even shed more tears, I remember when TOR used to mean for me a book company with a saga I hated more than being forced to read english literature, involving a bunch of women and guys and their weird relationship and the end of the universe as we know it and how the author dragged the book past the 9th one and I hated him more.

So yeah, I hate it when people call SWTOR plain TOR, I get mixed up between software AND books ...

That's another nice catch... although the Tor from Tor Books is not an acronym afaik. And that saga will hopefully finish in November 2012, so just in time for the end of our universe. I don't think I'll stand for a "we'll split the last book of the book we already split in three into yet another three pieces". Heads will roll.

Yes.. Give into your hate. It is the only way you can destroy me.

Grats. Not sure what price you paid... they assumed it would go for $150, and that's what it went for. The contents are kind of nice... for gathering dust. But it gives you something to do instead of trolling the TOR forums until early access, which is what everyone else seems to be doing.

I got mine for 83 euros. And I did troll the swtor forums; "Shiny stuff! But why did you send it in a Borg cube? :3"

Purchased the early access digital download this evening.

Not terrible @ 1.4mb/sec ($55/month on a fiber line and it's still this slow).

I have no illusions; I'll likely quit after 90 days or so, but the screen caps bring back memories from SWG.

You'll be disappointed then, this game is nothing like SWG.

Do you have any idea how much I pay for 600kB!? And I live in a ******* city no less! It just appears that there isn't a single provider who has though about actually putting a network node in my ******* neighborhood. Seriously, 600kB was MORE THAN THE LINE SHOULD BE ABLE TO ******* HANDLE.

PvP at it's best !!!

If you read through the character progressions, then watch the vidz, the Devs talk about moves/counter moves/strategies for class vs class combat, with in-game footage so you really get the idea of how it will work. Looks to me like they took all the best elements and ideas from all the best games and put them together in a seriously complex system of PvP with extra twists and new concepts tossed in. If smart dude versus smart dude style PvP winds your clock, this is the system for you. The choices of attacks/counter attacks and the associated graphics are amazing.

Even the cooldowns are way cool. It's not a simple clock timer. For example, the sniper's rifle has the best range in the game plus huge alpha, but a long cooldown in the form of a single-shot-bolt-action-reload graphic, that is, if you sit still in one spot long enough to see it.

You owe it to yourselves to checkout the Dev Team's vidz discussions of class vs class moves/counter moves/strategies. It is freakin' awesome.

The sound is definitely HD + 3D spatial which is something in a game environment that finally justifies owning an audiophile quality sound system. The best sound I have heard from any game I've played, and I've played many : Perpetuum, Black Prophecy, Star Trek Online, Conan, WoW, Lord of the Rings Online, to name a few, plus many other stand alone titles.

I plan on waiting to buy so the download servers are not quite so busy and some of the first wave of noobs are progressed out of the starting zones. But this is gonna be good!

lol

too bad everyone exploiting the pvp match bug will be level 50 by the time you log in

their forums are on fire

seems that you can get full xp and rewards for a match timing out due to lack of players

perhaps they should have gone with deleting boot.ini

The PvP xp bug is going to **** some people off real bad and I wouldn't be suprised if we see some temporary bans for the worst offenders.

Sure it might not have been ruled an exploit, but use your freakin head.

Honestly though, I don't think it will be that gamebreaking, but then again, I'm not one to power level like crazy to 50 anyway.

Still waiting for my EGA, though not confident it will be any time soon. IMO they should have let more people in today. The rage of the forums is palpable.

Guy is streaming himself leveling to 50 or whatever the cap is.

Pretty much a WoW clone.

Don't know about today, but yesterday about every newb in SWTOR got the brilliant idea to all start their own stream at the same time. Roll

AFAIK the sniper rifle / snipe skill has the exact same range as all the other long range skills, 30 meters, maybe extendable to 35 with talents (like some of the inquisitor's skills are). But chances are you will stay in one spot long enough, since being in cover is the only time you can actually use snipe.

Turns out today that you can actually level much faster by doing quests than by exploiting this bug. So all those nerdrage tears on the forums were shed over nothing, and there are no level 50s in the game yet (not even 30s as of this morning, tho I am sure someone is dinging 35-40 by now), according to Stephen Reid (who admittedly does not always tell the whole truth).

They went all the way into October yesterday, after doing only the first week on the first day. But the tears on the forums must flow Twisted

Cap is 50 right now. TOR borrows heavily from WoW, just like WoW borrowed heavily from other MMOs. The difference is that it's significantly better, which is only apparent when you actually play it.

Okay - couldn't wait and bought the pre-release for an extra $5. ROFLMAO...

I am confronted by a severely and radically bad download process that requires craeation of about 4 different accounts including a master account for "Origin" that says it "may create an Origin account from my SWTOR account info". The crusher are the security issues. The security system has prevented me, a paid cilent, from accessing paid-for content. I am in a terminal loop where I have paid-for access codes and the system thinks they have "already beed used"... The customer support is so overwhelmed that they first say "we can only answer security questions via phone call", then the phone maze says, "We only answer security questions" and "Call back later". Um, but, I have a security question ... and when is "later" ???

ROFLMAO ... if you can step back and ROFLMAO. This is gunna go down as the worst release in the history of gaming ...

I'm sure two weeks from now all will be well and there will be light sabres aplenty blazing in PvP battles. I saw the vidz with toons wielding dual-double-beam light sabres. Can't wait to get there.

And to get in a dig on CCP :: my station windows ALWAYS open in the same position, with the same size and config as the LAST WINDOW OPENED across two accounts on two different computers. Can't you get your object inheritance rules straight ? Customer Support has given me a non-effectual fix. I have a feeling CCP will never get it right, and the BioWare dudes will get it all working after an admittedly rocky start up.

I never had anything to do with the origin website nor their downloader, though I think we have the same login there as on our old EA accounts (same as on swtor now). Check all your old mails for info sent out about the merger and info on resetting security questions.

Or you could try login to your account on swtor and set/reset them and you should be good to go, and download the client if you have a decently fast connection.

Another tip would be for you to look at their forums, customer service section, it covers it all if you have the patience to find what you're looking for and read. :)
