CCP Fozzie has written a new dev blog and is going to talk about some hot topic: Burner Missions!

Burner Missions are optional Level 4 missions first introduced in Hyperion based on a single, very challenging NPC frigate. Those new missions are met with a lot of enthusiasm and explosions.

If you have ever wondered what might be even better than Burner Missions, here is the answer: graphs and more Burner Missions!

Read all about interesting background information (such as player ships destroyed by Burner NPCs, K/D ration, loot dropped etc.) and what new Burner Missions you can expect with the Oceanus release on September 30th in CCP Fozzie's latest dev blog Some NPCs Just Want to Watch the World Burn.

I think this one may hold the new record for most graphs in one dev blog.

Congrats to everyone who has managed to defeat a Burner so far, and good luck to those of you who will give them a try in the future!

I think CCP Fozzie enjoyed making these graphs a little too much

So. I went to this thing in the desert in northern Nevada, and I return to find Burners in my spaceship game.

Coincidence?

I think not.

[once upon a time, in an anomaly]
[dozens of Blood Raider vessel wrecks form a staggered line between their base and an assaulting capsuleer Raven]

BLOOD MONSIGNOR: Admiral! The Raven is tearing apart the base! We must fall back!
BLOOD ADMIRAL: Negatory, soldier. Press the attack! Tracking disrupt and energy neutralise it to impair its offense!

BLOOD MISSION COMMAND: Unknown vessel on scan! [Quick sensor adjustments] Captain, it's a stealth bomber!
[sensors focus on the now decloaked Hound]
BLOOD MISSION COMMAND: Captain! The stealth bomber is moving in to engage the Raven! It seems to be warp disrupting and attacking it with torpedoes!

BLOOD ADMIRAL: Attention all vessels: focus fire on the Hound. I repeat, ignore the Raven and focus fire on the Hound! Destroy these interlopers!

BLOOD MONSIGNOR: Wrecking shot on the Hound! It's bleeding into armor!
[Hound warps away]

BLOOD ADMIRAL: Damn nice shooting, boys! Focus fire on the Raven!

[the base was destroyed ten minutes later]

Why is the reward for doing burner missions so low.

yawn more frigates... still not interested wasting time with these.

When cruiser burners come around maybe then...

But what i really are waiting for are BS size burners now that would be something (BS size vvessels dishing out over 1000dps with all the EW in game Let the real battle commence and fireworks alone would be sight to see) frigates look like peashooters after that)

(and still when you take into account how hard these things are i just cannot justify the risk/reward on frigate size burners)

That's a lot of graphs! Does that CONDI destruction include Sunday's Vile Rat Day? Hundred(s) of billions of ISK worth of stuff was blown up then.

Nice list of stats. Can we see the same level of detail for a wormhole Dev blog as it pertains to the changes you did there?

Have to start small before you can go play with the big boys.

Off topic.

If you have a maxed out pirate indicy in 0.0 rand burners randomly spawn in belts please? :D We need moar tears in this game.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Shoot a Serpentis Burner to lose standing to Serpentis.

Shoot an ex-Amarrian Burner to lose standing to...?
They are neither Amarr nor pirates.

ex-Matari Burner seems to be Thukker Tribe as far as the description of the Burner Jaguar on Sisi tells us.

Oh, and if you didn't want to have battleships slowboating or mjd'hopping into the burner pocket you shouldn't have lowered the 100MN MWD cap requirements Twisted
You have seen this coming, haven't you?
After all, it takes a lot of time, calling it an "exploit" seems to be unfair... "exploring the limits" is the term you are looking for Roll
