With the coming Tripwire patch there will be finally some admin controls. At first they will be simple and basic but like all of Tripwire they will get continuous attention.

I am stuck between two ways to determine who gets admin permissions in a corp, the requirement is that it cannot involve me - method must be self sufficient.

So please vote between A or B. I likely won't accept another idea at this point in time. You have 1-2 days to vote.

A

  • Each corp has an "owner" that is the first one with Director or CEO that registers for corp access
  • If an "owner" leaves the corp the first one with Director or CEO that registers again gets it
  • "Owners" can assign "admins" to their corp (but "admin" must be in corp - leaving removes "admin")

B

  • Anyone with Director or CEO can register to be a corp "admin" - no-one else
  • If an "admin" leaves corp they are no-longer "admin" and must re-register if they return

Personally I like B because it is simple and more secure. However it limits "admins" to only Directors and CEOs.

NOTE: I am removing alliances from Tripwire - they are a "hack" in EVE and are quite a pain to deal with.

So by removing alliance's this would mean each corp within an alliance has there own sig map possibly different from others in the same alliance?

The situation you describe is remedied by the fact that there will be "Masks" that you can create.

So you create a Mask for "Alliance" and allow the individual corps access to the same shared Mask for intel sharing purposes. Same sig lists, same chain map, same timers. The effective difference from the way it works now is NIL. Just need to make sure that each member loads to correct mask once they register to see everything.

This also means that if you are doing a Joint Operation - Say evicting the residents of a third party Wormhole, you and Alliance B can share a Mask that allows BOTH alliances to input intel to it, and see the same chain map, while still keeping your home chain maps secure, and invisible to the other party. Once you are done, that Mask can be deleted. In the middle of things, if someone needs to go back "Home", they can jump to K-Space, swap Masks back to the "Alliance" Mask, and then use that to navigate home and such.

Ah I see. Sounds pretty good to me, I think option b sounds better there is a level of control on par with corp leadership that way

Looks like B won - 12 to 7.

Down the road it is always possible to expand on the feature.

Thanks everyone for helping with the direction Tripwire development is going!

Next poll will be regarding the bookmark naming feature...

Yep, he does.

As you already have an open thread on the same topic, this one gets a lock.

As a courtesy to other forum users, please search to see if there is a thread already open on the topic you wish to discuss. If so, please place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forums needlessly, causing good feedback and ideas to be lost. Please keep discussions regarding a topic to a single thread.
