Hi all,

Thanks for looking at this, i am hoping to start some capital ship production shortly and i wondered what the best way to go about this was, i have heard suggestions it is better to produce components in a pos with a Thukker Mix component array and other have said stations are better. Anyone have any advice?

Although i do have access to 0.0 i would likely start in low sec.

Capital construction in a POS makes you a target, unless you are deep in nulsec in a cyno-jammed system.

So if building in a station, then you also want to be in nulsec for the outpost (Amarr) bonuses.

Then there is the whole issue with the elimination of mineral compression, and lack of supply of compressed ore at a competitive price. Capitals require lots of minerals.

Which is why many low-sec capital produces stopped capital production when Crius was released, and there was, and still is, a glut of researched capital BPO available dirt-cheap on contracts.

Hi Tau,

Thank you for your comments, i should have explained, i wouldn't do the entire capital production in a pos, i would build the Hulls in a station, but i was thinking about a pos to put a Thukker Mix Component Assembly array in just to build components.

I am repeating exactly what Tau said, but in slightly different words.

If you hang a Thukker Component Array on your low sec POS, then everyone who sees it immediatly knows you are trying to produce capitals. Now your POS is a target. If you have a capital's worth of minerals being turned into components, you may lose them, plus the array.

Is this risk worth it to you?

The thunker array will produce the componets faster, and cheaper,

hower as already stated, they make your POS a big target.

Also, the components once built are 10,000m3 per unit. that is a lot of hauling from your POS to a station. and adds even more risk.

Best bet is to build in an upgraded amarr outpost, if you have access to it. you can reprocess compressed ore i the station, build componets , and build the hulls at very low risk. Biggest problem will be getting the materials together.

Good points. Thank you for your input, i may have to re-conciser my plans.
