Why do Minmatar shield tank?

Answer #1:) how do you think the ship stays in one piece? With physical braces? HA!

Answer #2:) because their engineers are clearly incompetent at armor tanking or hull tanking!

Answer #3:) they don't actually have shields, but the failing electronics create a static field that makes it difficult for ammunition to get past!

Answer #4 (from Yang Aurilen):) Because they see that Caldari shields are clearly better than Armarr tanking and Gayllente hull tanking. Clearly, Minmatar absolutely fail at mimicking the efforts of a people who perform labor.

Because they see the superiority of Caldari shields are obvious when compared to the amarrian armor tanks and gayllentean hull tanks.

Obviously their attempts at copying superior Caldari systems are not perfect.

Well, when your ship is held together with duct tape and good intentions, you can't exactly hull or armor tank. Shield is what's left over.

Well, that's easy.

Without shields, the sellotape melts too quickly.

(Edit - My original word 'melts' was supplied by Minmatar and it crunched-up into 'metls' when I posted my original mail.)

There are actually deeply philosophical reasons why the Minmatar ships mostly shield tank. I could explain it to you, but I don't really understand it fully myself. However, if you seek enlightment, then you must consume 1 quart of the blood of the yazar dragon from Hulm, and the walk across the great Desert of Sacrifice wearing nothing but a kilt and a poncho.

Only then will you receive understanding and see the true path to the glorious protection of the shield.

Because you only need a single shield generator to create a bubble around a pile of scrap but at least four armor plates for a similar omnidirectional protection.
