I think I found the perfect analogy for EVE balance right now and to describe what I want fixed

Well we're all aware that EVE is a supposed sandbox game, you have players who can build sand castles and work really hard on them then you have the players that come and kick the sandcastles down. However, my main complaint about EVE is there is no way to put a rock in the sand castle so you can break the foot of the player that's trying to kick your sandcastle down. So in the end it becomes an endless cycle of build, get the sandcastle destroyed, build, get the sand castle destroyed then leave because there is no real way to fight back against the jerks that keep kicking your sand castle down. Sure you can kick their ass, but then they'll just bring more of their friends and kick down the sandcastle again there's no way for one player or even a small group of players to properly fight against that which is why everyone just ends up joining the players that kick the sandcastle down because ruining the fun for everyone else is safer that way.

Think I'm right about this? Lets have a debate :P

p.s. We have no spades either so we can't do anything fun with our sand castles or put on nice details

Why put all your sand in one castle?

Even if you make several castles with your sand, there's no way to defend against the players who want to come and knock it down, that's basically what I'm saying.

I make shells by trading knowledge how to build different kinds of sandcastles. I use those shells to pay other people in the sandbox to guard my sandcastle and break the legs of anyone who comes near my sandcastle.

So what happens if a big alliance like goonswarm decides to come and knock over your sand castle then? :) your hired muscle won't be much good against that.

I break it myself and wait till they leave. Ofc if I had an empire of sandcastles it'll come down to a good ol' fashioned fight in the sandbox.

Sounds like what's happening in real life.

I think the original post describes exactly why eve actually has politics. Make some allies. In your vision eve would be a beach covered in rocks.

What you have concluded is the root cause for most people leaving EVE. Even those that simply adapt and blob it up, blob it up, blob it up end up seeing it all come crashing down. Alliances and power bloc's got so big it was a lagg down slide show and crashing the nod became and is a common strategy in both offence and defence. I can't take credit for originality. This has been brought up a thousand times. The solution isn't there. My advice would be, if you want to try out those aspects of EVE that would otherwise take you possibly years to get to, only to have them torn down? Patch a copy of test server and sandbox away in relative safety.

Like anything in life, income is king, not assets. So if your sand-castle is your asset, and it's all you got, and someone kicks it down, you're screwed.

But if you have disposable income and use it to build sand castles, then it really doesn't matter how often they get kicked down, you can always build more. And if you have enough income, they can't kick them all down.

So the trick is to learn how to make any amount of ISK quickly. Once you've done that, you can do what you want and it doesn't really matter. Any and all setbacks are minor and temporary. And in the meantime the BPOs keep getting researched and the skills keep getting trained.

Don't, you might lead people to believe that the numbers an alliance has doesn't necessarily mean an automatic victory.

Can't have that, people might get aneurisms because of the mental shock.
