AT is a poor thing to judge balance on. It is indeed just the sentries that a causing issues.

Drones where better when they where a secondary weapon system imo. The reason I suggest an overall rebalance is to reduce the affect of the lame tactics which come with drones.

One idea is to fix the drone size to a specific class of ship. For instance a BS should only be able to equip / get bonuses to heavy drones. Turrets have that restriction, drones don't have it only because they weren't intended as a primary weapon system. Stuff like that needs ironing out.


Yes thats exactly what happened with the Gila, Rattlesnake and worm...So i guess those arent OP at all?

I also think the omni drone dmg/hp bonus need to be changed to size specific bonus.

They should also devide sentry drones into medium(10MB) and large(25MB) sentry drones.

With medium size sentry drones there would be no need to have cruisers with more then 50MB bandtwidth like the Ishtar or Stratios.

Its kind of stupid to give cruisers the ability to fit battleship size weapons.

Thats what the large weapon battlecruisers are for.

To round up the balance I think drone controll range and drone speed (espacially the small drones) are to good on non drone boat ships.

The reason why drones are used so much is not that they are so much superior to other weapon systems but because EWAR is so damn superior to those other weapons and drones give you an easy way to mitigate this.

So if ewar (especially damping and tracking disruption) would be nerfed other weapons would be used more often again. But the problem here is that ewar is a good idea and it would be bad if its nerfed to uslessness, so someone somehow has to find a good middle way (maybe doing it chanced based like jaming but I don't know if this acctualy would be a good change).

Remember when carriers could launch as many fighters as supers used to? And subcaps could launch 10? And supers just lagged a system with all their drones? The drone clouds today are nothing in comparison
