Wormhole model/graphics based on size, & other similar ideas.

While CCP is working on new graphics for wormholes...

Wormhole SIze (on grid, visually) would be awesome if they were related to the class they go to, on top of the mass left on them.

Yes, I am aware wormholes decrease in size as their mass is reduced, don't freak out. Read on.

Why would this change be good?


  • Distance from wormholes from a lore perspective has been answered! Big ships using big wormholes = distance!
  • Visually, you appear to ENTER a wormhole to activate it, rather than just get near and suddenly you become invisible. Have the graphical effect obscure the ship and you actually appear to get sucked in.
  • Right click > show info is immersion breaking. Being able to see "a big damn wormhole" you clearly know it leads to C5/C6 space or "thats a tiny wormhole" is likely a frig or class 1/2 wormhole.
  • As mass decreases, so does size. if the wormhole looks smaller than your dread, its likely going to go pop if you jump it.
  • Just like each racial gate in eve, there would be varying shapes and sizes to wormholes. Variety is always good.

Wormhole Diameter (much like a solar system gate, vs regional gate) would be cool if they varied in size. Instead of randomly spitting you out x km from the hole, the hole itself dictates the distance between person A @ 0 and person B who just jumped through.

Why would this change be good?


  • Like the above change, distance from wormholes from a lore perspective has been answered! Big ships using big wormholes = distance!
  • This would give more people a chance to fly something other than tech III, as the distance between you and the enemy may be further apart. Thus you aren't instantly scrambled when you decloak. You can actually fly kitey ships!
  • As mass decreases, so does the diameter, meaning the more stuff through a hole, the closer you respawn to the hole. This would help ragerolling a bit as it becomes faster and faster the less mass left. On the flip side, you still can't rageroll as quickly as pre Hyperion.
  • Just like each racial gate in eve, there would be varying shapes and sizes to wormholes. Variety is always good.

I like the idea, personally I would like wormhole graphics to be like 50-100km wide like in the trailers, because come on: the vast majority has the hardware to run the graphics, it's not like CCP has to tone down graphics to cater to low end machines like Blizzard does.

Let it be a gigantic matter spewing digital Maelstrom. :P
