Whatever happened with station walking?

So I'm deep in enemy territory, skimming the edges of known space in my exploration Raptor. I spend most of the evening scanning and running relic sites, but I do it with my camera zoomed close to my ship. I use the neat mouse-look feature to cinematically pan across the space-scape vistas, admiring the amazing variety and detail of the planets. I take a moment and enter near orbit of a particularly beautiful temperate planet. For a brief moment I get the strong urge to be able to stand inside my ship and look out of a window. To mill about the interior with this particular backdrop. If for no other reason then to just really feel like I'm living in deep space, and to reflect on a day's hard work.

It briefly reminds me of how great that was in Star Wars Galaxies. Will the implementation of station walking ever happen? Might that tech eventually lead to ship interiors? Staying with canon that we're in gel pods, I'd be happy being able to assume the body of one of my many crew to walk around inside the ship.

Anyway, just curious where CCP stands on interiors these days.

well you see the non-expansion Incarna made a lot of use very... upset and CCP was receptive of this and to avoid a repeat they have been staying away from anything that was involved in it. now they just rub there lies in our face by keeping the station door and the deactivated key in the game but i for one am still hoping to run my own bar someday

Long story short we dont want it. What we want is for CCP to fix everything that is broken in EVE.

Has anyone ever actually compiled a list of "everything that is broken in EVE" or is it one of those ponies that gets repeatedly trotted out to discourage CCP from trying anything significant ever again?

Moreover, how much of what is "broken in EVE" can ever be fixed, given that so many things are left for the players to use as they see fit?

There are a few things that have needed attention for a long, long while. POSes, Corporation mechanics, and Null-Sov (not that it's ignored, just that all past solutions haven't been very good) being the biggest issues. These things also happen to be on the short list of big things CCP is tackling in the current release schedule, and since they did follow through on a long-overdue industry overhaul, it looks like CCP is finally focusing on fixing these issues.

Personally, for each one major issue CCP fixes, I'd be fine with an update that faffs about with WIS content.

That would be nice if nothing but continued beta grew or even retained the playerbase.

We as in CFC or we as in the players? If you mean the latter, you might want to put your "we" into perspective as many players want WIS, WIP, WIR and so on. Blink

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

Damn near everyone, hence the bashed up statue in jita. People forget just how much was broken 2-3 years ago. CCP have made big improvements over the last few years but there is still a lot to do.

There is project Legion announced at Fanfest but it has been very quiet about that since then.

And yes, EVE still has issues.
But yes, I want that door to open!

If I want to walk around a space station, I go and play some Mass Effect.

People don't play EVE for 'walking in stations'. EVE is for epicly huge space battles, empire building and generally large scale stuff.

Without a doubt; however, this should not rule out a deeper expansion of EVE to involve all parts of the game and make then accessible. As stated countless times in countless other and similar posts: EVE should not be seen as a shooter in space, it should be seen as a much broader, much more comprehensive simulation.

CCP take year to implement tiny improvements so i doubt they have the skills or resources to do a good job of station/ship interiors.

More modern games like Elite dangerous and stare citizen will do it quicker and better than EVE as they're games aren't build upon a foundation of bad coding.
