Drones not staying on target

Ive now had it in several fights that my drones switch their target mid fight after I get hit by something. Is there a hidden button to make them stop doing this or do I just need to spam f during every fight I use drone ship?

Learn to spam F. There is no way to stop them from going after different targets entirely. You can just mitigate the behavior. Using focus fire helps, but it won't stop the behavior either. You could take your drones off the aggressive stance. That way they'll start to idle instead of switching targets. This makes the behavior easier to monitor, so you don't have to focus so much on your drones.

Pretty sure that was Gold Leader not Porkins. Porkins was the one who died because his artificial gravity was so low he didn't know he was diving. Gold Leader was in the trench with the two other Y-Wings.

yeah pretty much. I got used to pressing F every few seconds.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

i abandon one in deep space to keep the rest in line.

Every now and then I target one and have the others kill it. Usually this is intentional and not just me being clumsy with targeting.

There are no commands to tell drones what to do. There are only suggestions.

I thought it was cuz he overloaded the anti grav... they called him Porkins for a reason.

Have you tried turning your drones off, then turning them on again?

I have noticed that too.

It comes up when you and your target are moving and kiting each other. For some odd reason the second you 'breach' the 60km drone control range from the point in space you were when you gave the 'attack' command to your drones and your current position in space the drones need to be told again or go back to 'aggressive' on their own.

It doesn't matter if you were within the 60km drone control range all the time, the only thing that seems to matter is the point you were when you instructed your drones.

While compelling, id be surprised if this was what is happening. I fly a lot of nano kite drone boats but havnt noticed anything as consistent as this. Often, just one drone goes idle or switches target. Sometimes that same drone immediately goes idle again after 1 volley while his brothers just keep plugging away.

Ill take a closer look next time im on though because that explanation does sound sensible.

And *that*, people, is exactly why we have a rogue drone problem.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

+1 for that quote

Are you fighting Guristas?

If so drones tend to switch target once they get target jammed...
