Bomb damage not applying.

So I appear to be having issues with bomb damage not applying correctly when bombing on station/gate. The bombs hit the structure (gate or station) but no other damage notifications come through, not any other bombs in the squad nor ships clearly in the blast radius.

This is with a squad of 4, so the bombs will not destroy each other. Alignment looks good, bombs travel to the right spot - in the middle of a fleet yet we've repeatedly only received multiple damage notifications from 1 or 2 people in the squad, all others only show damage to the structure - not even the hits on the other bombs.

Normally I would chalk this up to bad piloting where people are trying to warp off prior to launching but I've been watching very closely on an alt and the bombs all fly good and appear to explode in the right place...yet incorrect notifications.

Anyone else been experiencing this?

Is it possible that damage is getting negated due to small sig radius?
Not sure what else it could be..

Even at 1 sig radius damage would still apply, as little as it would be. This really seems similar to the mechanic of if a bomb travels inside a POS shield, it would still do damage to the POS but nothing else (as if the shields absorbed all of the damage) but this is bombing on stations/gates.

Its the station negating your bomb, aka how CCP mitgates undock bomb spamming. Your bomb needs to hit a ship first.

I.don't think there is a change to point you towards. It's always been this way. If you hit station or gate first, your bomb does no other damage.

Drop your bomb from further away. If it collides with the collision sphere of a station or gate it will not do damage, drop it from further away so it explodes before hitting the station or gate and it will apply damage within its damage range normally. (Even if this damage range overlaps with the collision sphere of the station or gate)

I have no link though as its worked like this since the day bombs were added to the game.

I remember this being an issue in the past and they fixed it at one time but this certainly hasn't been the typical mode of operation for bombs since their inception and wide adoption. I dropped a bug report on it but we'll see if anything comes back from that.

Also, on the test server, there was no issue, so maybe it's the type of station (something I'll have to test). My issues have been on a Gallente, player dropped station.

Are your targets using smartbombs to destroy the bombs?

Are your bombers competently launching the bomb so the targets are within their blast radius?

The smartbomb mechanic just prevents the activation of smartbombs within 5k of a station/gate. Bomb damage can still apply to targets @0 on a station, the issue I'm having is that it's not applying to all bombs dropped.

You might be confusing it with how they interact with POSs where if your bomb explodes while inside the shield radius of the POS, the POS will absorb 100% of the possible damage despite the explosion radius including area outside of the POS shield.

I'm used to bombing "past" a station but still hitting the ships on undock without any loss and this is the explanation I was given a looooong time ago.
